October 19, 2011: Live Free or Die

(photos by Chris)
Coat: ModCloth (bought with a gift certificate provided by the company)
Sweater: J.Crew outlet
Tank (under): J.Crew
Jeans: Madewell hiriser
Boots: Matiko via LF
Necklace: Flea Market
Bracelets: Forever 21

Well, Chris and I are back from the saddest weekend ever. Goodbyes are never easy, and when you're from a place where you can see your whole extended family within an hour, and all of your oldest friends, those goodbyes are even more difficult. After a great couple of days with my brother down here, we trekked up North to see family and friends before heading out on our new journey. We saw just about everyone we wanted to see, though for a shorter time than desired, even though we'll be back for Christmas (only a short couple of months away) it was still rough. While in New Hampshire & Maine, we made sure to visit all the places we love, including Cathedral Ledge. Chris and I used to take picnics up here all the time when we lived in NH, and I think it's one of the most beautiful look-outs, especially in the fall. It's strange leaving New England, I feel like being from northern New England is such a strong part of my identity, it'll be weird not living here anymore.

I've pretty much been living in this outfit lately, I bought this sweater last weekend and I love it so much, it's so easy to just throw on with jeans and be done with it. Crisp fall days are my favorite, I love being in a cozy sweater and jacket and tramping through the woods.

September 28, 2011: Some Summer Leftovers

Top: Thrifted ($5?)
Belt: AA or J.Crew...can't tell
Skirt: Madewell (sale)
Bracelets: Swapped
Sandals: H&M ($7)

I've had these photos on my desktop since June, no joke. Since I'm feeling under the weather today, I thought what better time to share them? Especially since Fall decided to masquerade as summer anyway. I've been taken down by a nasty cold that I'm pretty sure a handful of my friends have, along with half of the customers at the cafe, I didn't stand a chance against this beast. Ugh, what makes you feel better when you're sick? I like laying in bed and watching tv and reading magazines.

July 26, 2011: Chartreuse, Navy, Creme, Brown

Tank: J.Crew sale ($10)
Skirt: Madewell sale ($65)
Sandals: H&M sale ($7)
Bag: Thrifted ($10)
Belt: J.Crew outlet (gift)
Necklace: Black Sparrow (gift)
Barcelets: Vintage & Swapped

This is definitely one of my favorite and most comfortable outfits, possibly ever. I wore this last week to work, after two and a half days of being confined to my apartment with a terrible cold, I was happy to finally get dressed and look nice. Long flowy skirts feel incredible when they brush against your legs in the breeze, which is one of the reasons I love them. This Madewell skirt is one of my favorites, when I can easily envision incorporating an item into three seasons worth of outfits, I know it's a keeper. I can't wait to style this for fall, I think a nubby sweater is just the thing for it. For summer though, I added some cheap-o sandals from H&M and a navy tank.

June 30, 2011: Black, Leopard, Friendship Bracelet

Belt: Off a vintage dress
Sunnies; Gift from ex-coworker
Necklace: Madewell sale ($14?)
Friendship bracelet: "The wolf store" in York, ME- from Punky
Black cross back Bra: American Apparel

I like working in a place where my co-workers give me friendship bracelets, and I have to say, the bright, woven bracelet trend is one that I can definitely get behind. They're easy to make, affordable, and tie easily on to extremely tiny wrists. I like the color it added to my monochrome outfit yesterday. This is one of my favorite dresses, it's perfect for hot summer days like yesterday. The sheer fabric feels fantastic blowing against my legs. Except, you know the downside of the maxi dress/skirt trend? Driving in them. For a little height I added my ever-comfy Casita wedges. I also really love how this black bra looks under the dress, especially how it crosses in the back.

I'm off to my other job this afternoon, what are your plans? The weather in new England is finally acting like summer, take advantage!

April 4, 2011: Rust, Black, and White

(photos: chris & I)
Sweater: J.Crew
T-Shirt: Madewell (sale)
Skirt: Madewell (sale)
Flats: GAP ($30)
Bracelet c/o ModCloth
Necklace: Madewell (sale)
Tights: AA
Bag: Vintage Coach ($14)
Well, we're back to the doom and gloom of "April Showers", hopefully this rain means May flowers. At least it's not snowing (I hear it is in Maine)! I think because of the changing season, I've had a hard time taking outfit photos lately (hence last week's slew of "what i've been up to" photos). These photos took two people, and two days to take. Sad I know. Anyway, I mentioned in Friday's post that I made a stop at Madewell while in Boston, this is what I got. I've been obsessed with these linen t-shirts, and I stocked up with a few different colors in anticipation of hot summer days. I had also had my eye on this cute polkadot skirt for awhile, and couldn't resist when I found it on sale. There are very few places I like to shop outside of online and thrift stores, Madewell is one of those places. This is what I'm wearing to work today.

Did you have a nice weekend? I did, and a very busy one! On Friday, Chris and I went to see True Grit, which was wonderful and a nice contrast to the original John Wayne adaptation. On Saturday I went thrift shopping and had dinner with friends, and on Sunday Chris and I met up with Punky, Thais, and Adam, for some pancakes and flea market shopping. I got a pair of driving gloves and a tapestry for our couch. You can go to Punky's blog to see photos, because I've also been pretty bad at documenting our weekends lately. My mom also came down Sunday afternoon and I showed her around the Shipbuilding Museum (which is open for the season, stop by and say HI!), and watched 127 Hours, which was good but made me cringe.
Today definitely feels like a Monday. I hope you have a good day!
