Here & There 12.10

You guys, I gotta be honest. Every year, I grow more and more in awe of the bloggers who are able to get their gift guides published in time, show off their holiday party outfits and share a few cute holiday DIYs, too. I have good intentions, I really do. But those intentions rarely make the journey from idea to action. I just don't have it in me. Between my 9 to 5 and freelance work and just trying to have some semblance of a normal life outside of those things, I'm left scrambling to even get our Christmas cards sent out on time. Last year they didn't even make it out. This year ,I've finally admitted to myself that the holidays are hard on me. I just can't do it all! And I don't even have children - parents... I gotta hand it to ya. This weekend is it for me, time to get my act together and at least try to get some shopping and baking done. Chris and I are staying put this year, and I'm so thankful for that. As much as I miss home and would love to see my family, I really can't wait for our first real Christmas together after 13 years. We always go home, always hop from one house to another, running ourselves ragged and returning home feeling the opposite of rested. This year, we actually got a full-size tree, we made dinner reservations for Christmas Eve and are looking forward to just spending some time together after a really stressful past couple of months.

Anyways, after a little unintended hiatus, I'm back this week with some of my favorite link from around the web.

Good for you, Julie! Your Christmas plans sound very relaxing. :)

The holidays are a hard time of the year and you just gotta do what you can and leave the rest so you can enjoy life this season!

Happy for you and husband that your plans are ffor a slow down. I have 3 grown girls and I have spent too many holidays exhausted and feeling inadequate. I stopped cards years ago and I don't regret anything except for time lost....
