A pretty basic outfit for a freaking awesome afternoon. Sunday was good, hung out with friends in a backyard (a rare find in our fair city), ate tacos and found Mexican Coca-Cola made with real sugar, and finished the day by heading down to the park to watch Arachnophobia. Despite the steamy temperature, I chose to wear a rare pair of jeans with my new classic white t-shirt. I felt very all-american with my straw hat, rolled jeans, and Coke. I ended up being very glad I wore the jeans too, it gets buggy at the park after dark and the movie didn't finish until 10. Did you know Arachnophobia was the first scary movie I saw in the theatre? Yeah, it scarred me for life! Growing up we always had huge spiders in the barn, and watching this movie as a child really did not help my fear of them. But this time around I was able to appreciate the kitsch factor a little more, John Goodman is amazing in it, and by amazing I mean completely ridiculous. In that second photo you can see the half-shell they project the movie into.

Do you know that you can occasionally find Coca-Cola made with real sugar or cane sugar? It's most available during Jewish holidays and at authentic taco stands, and it is amazing. It tastes totally different. Classic Coca-Cola and Cherry Coke are my kryptonite, second only to gummy candy as one of my vices. Despite all my healthy eating and exercising, I can not give it up (though I do only partake once or twice a month for moderation's sake).

On the left is my Coke and on the right is Chris's "Coke"
(can wraps are awesome)
Do you have a favorite candy or drink that you simply can't give up?
Edit: A big thank you to Abby who left this info in the comments: "Coke uses real sugar only during the Jewish holiday of Passover - it's because during Passover, Jews can't eat anything that is leavened (i.e. bread, grains, etc.). Corn is included in this do-not-eat-list, so the usual corn syrup in Coke is omitted and replaced with real sugar."

YES, Coke is also my thing I have trouble giving up and I too love the Mexican Coke with real sugar!! I saw the bottle in the second pic and thought "ooh I bet that's the Mexican one!" hehe
You look gorgeous, especially in the second photo! That sounds like so much fun.
I didn't know that about Coke. My weakness is Vanilla Coke, mmmmm :)

I realize this may seem weird due to the whole "nazi" in my name thing, but why Jewish holidays?
Kosher, it has to be natural ingredients (that is my assumption, so if I'm wrong, hopefully someone will correct me..)
It looks like you had a lovely weekend! I love this classic look :)
all-american indeed, you belong in a coca-cola old school commercial. Jcrew has the best tees so comfy. I too enjoy the coca cola in the bottle - I have it everytime I visit my grandpa in mexico. Now it just reminds me of him:)
You're looking super cute in such a simple, but well styled outfit.
You look great in this simple outfit!

Ooh I love Coke in glass bottles! I am not usually much of a soda drinker, but it reminds me of driving through the desert in Baja with my family on surf trips :). Cute outfit, too!

Great outfit!!
FYI, Coke uses real sugar only during the Jewish holiday of Passover - it's because during Passover, Jews can't eat anything that is leavened (i.e. bread, grains, etc.). Corn is included in this do-not-eat-list, so the usual corn syrup in Coke is omitted and replaced with real sugar.
Eck! I don't like coke really, the only thing I like is the glass bottles but you don't really get them very often! Nice outfit :) Simplicity is sometimes best :)

I honestly love very few looks more than a simple white t-shirt and jeans, and you look adorable in that hat!
I love Coke in the bottle! As for candy I can't give up, that's definitely Skittles although I did give them up for a while. When I became a strict vegetarian I stopped eating them because of the gelatin. Last year they actually went gelatin-free, and after six long years they were even better than I remembered. I really don’t think I could go without them again.

i've had mexican coke and pepsi throwback, but i didnt taste much of a difference! i guess HFCS has just tainted my tastebuds forever. :(
i love the simple look here .. the hat really seals the deal!
Pepsi came out with "Pepsi Throwback" - made wit real sugar, no high fructose. It's so hard to find though!
I found your Blog and I think who is beautiful you have so much style
I like Diet Dr Pepper & Coke Zero.I just don't like the taste of regular soda, way to sweet for me.
Coke is to me as crack is to a heroin addict.
Just one of the many mystifying facts of life, right?
I agree w/ the comment above...there is no better drink to me than Coca-Cola. I drink at least one cola a day or I don't feel quite right. It does wonders...ha :)
I'm a big fan of Dublin Dr. Pepper. Its the same as the Coke you have there, pure sugar cane and no HFCS. I wish I could find some kind of movie/park/event here in Austin, I'm sure they're everywhere.
I really love the simplicity of this post, makes me want to pull out my Levi's despite the 100+ heat.
I think the Coke actually really ties the whole outfit together. Amazing how regular objects can turn into accessories...
Sometimes wearing just a white tee and jeans is the perfect solution. I barely wore jeans last year, but since coming back from abroad a week ago, I've worn jeans out three times! [It's just NOT very warm in the northwest this summer.]
I love that Coke tidbit, I didn't know Coke used real sugar in the US ever.
I love Mexican Coke! I need to find it around here.
Super cute outfit :)
On "special" days Kev and I will raid the ethnic foods aisle for some Mexi-Coke in the tall glass bottles. I don't know if all Kroger's carry Mexican Coke (which has real sugar) but the ones in Detroit do. I remember whenever my dad traveled to different countries he'd always bring us back Coke, so I've sampled it from all over, and did you know the US is the ONLY country that used HFCS. yep. I love my little collections of cans and bottles (japanese coke cans are the cutest, they are short and stubby)
I love your outfit. It looks very easy to frolic in, which is a must for any summer outfit.
I've recently become a convert to the classic white t-shirt, having always been more of a classic black t-shirt person before! ; ) I like yours, a simple outfit is so refreshing sometimes.
My undeniable vice candy is gummy bears, but here in Mexico they are a pale imitation of the real thing so I'm forced to be good. German gummy bears are fantastic however...
great hat!
I'm with you - Coke is my crack.
also, FYI- I am a "kosher coke" fan too and try to avoid HFCS. Kosher coke, made with real sugar comes out during Jewish holidays like Passover and has a YELLOW cap. I always stock up when i see it.
completely classic.
where did you find the anti-hero can wrap?
Love the hat, esp with this outfit...so effortlessly cool.
Also, my first post, I don't feel like such a creeper now, haha.
loving the outfit! very american girl.
not much of a soda fan but every once in a while Dr Pepper catches my eye. I seriously cannot understand why they can't just make it with real sugar all the time. When I was in Norway everyone was talking about how different the Coke tastes in the good ole US of A.
On the candy front - I pretty much love it all. I try to refrain most of the time, but licorice is definitely my favorite. And Reese's peanut butter cups. YUM!
