Daylight Fades

In this outfit:
Dress c/o Spotted Moth
Wedges c/o Lulu's
Necklace: Spotted Moth ($32 sale last year)
Bracelet: Vintage/Thrifted ($2)

Where I wore it: Out for drinks

Daylight is fading noticeably faster lately, it seems like we get home and all of a sudden dusk has fallen. I have a suspicion that this change in light is responsible for how I felt about Tuesday's pictures, the photo's themselves weren't all that bad, but I'm feeling frustrated at not having enough time to do everything I plan to in the evenings now- pictures, a run, drinks on the porch, a walk around the neighborhood. I'll soon need to rearrange my schedule even more as the days get continually shorter. I have this completely delusional idea that someday I'll get my schedule all worked out and perfect, when in reality I'm pretty sure that's impossible. If that ever actually happens, I'll probably just implode.

I've been enjoying the challenge of using all of my wardrobe lately, pulling out items that have either been on deck for something special or just pushed to the back in favor of old stand-bys on rushed mornings. I've has this dress in my closet for a month or so, and was thinking I would save it for something special, but...drinks can be special right? With such a statement-making silhouette, I went with minimal accessories, just a couple of all-time-favorites.

Drinks are for sure special haha, and that dress is gorgeous. i'd wear it every chance i can get.

and i'm feeling the same frustration with the shortening days. it's around 7:00 when i get home so i'm not sure how pictures are going to work out during winter :/

one of my best friends has a very similar dress, same cut-outs and same shade of honey, from topshop uk. i like this one, with its mullet party in front, business in back hem.

i do the same thing; sometimes, you just need to create the occasion attitude from the seemingly mundane...

Julie I love this one on you! Great color! I think its important not to always save special pieces. Sometimes I just want to dress up for the fun of it and often that occasion is getting drinks with a girlfriend and catching up. Maybe it's a little Sex in the City inspired. Ha, ha! Or dressing up on days I feel sick or blue. It helps me feel better sometimes. The days getting shorter I've noticed too and in part I'm glad to get ready to spend more time in hibernation mode at home but in the other side want more sunsets, bike rides and sunny gathering after work. Hope you are having a good day.

The light is gorgoues. I know what you mean though - I get sad when it becomes more evident that summer is over and the light decreases. I'm a daylight kinda gal. Mind you, I don't have a porch to drink on - lucky lady! Enjoy what's left of it xx

Hello dear,

Inspired by our conversation, I posted a rant about fashion identity crises on my blog:

Problem is, us girls, as soon as we cross one thing of our list, we add three more!

Love that colour for fall... looks great with navy.

Good for you using more things in your closet. I'm totally guilty of the old "oh, this is for special occasions only" excuse and fairly stagnant with the work wardrobe lately. This is motivating me t mix it up a bit :-)

Oh and the dress is gorgeous, btw. The neckline is exquisite.
