It seems like every time Chris and I drive North, it becomes more and more difficult to return to the city. Growing up in Rural New Hampshire and Maine, we love being in the woods, especially this time of year when the trees and mountains are blazing with the colors of autumn. On Friday we headed North for a friend's wedding and went straight to the rehearsal and set-up at the location: The Russell-Colbath House on the Kancamagus Highway. It was wonderfully freezing when we got up there, I love it when the weather gets cold! The foliage was even worth getting stuck behind all the tourists on the drive up, so pretty! We used to drive the "Kanc" all the time when I was younger, and more often than not we would see a moose or some other kind of wild-life. No moose this weekend, but I did see a few foxes.
I wanted to wear something fall-ish, so I went with a denim button-up and suede skirt. This skirt has become a little too big over the past year, so rather than not wearing it at all, I cinched the top like a paper-bag style skirt. To keep warm, I threw on my new favorite thing: this sweater from ModCloth. It's so warm and cozy! I love cozy sweaters!
I have lots to share from this weekend, It was so hard to come home last night! Fall is my favorite season, especially when I can spend some time at my mom's house in Maine. The trees are always brighter and the air is always incredibly crisp and smells like wood-smoke. All I want to do is drink cider and make apple-crisp this time of year. Now we are back home in the city and dreaming of the next weekend we can head north.
How was your weekend?
