Kancamagus Bound

Oh New Hampshire, how I pine for thee!
Shirt: J.Crew Outlet ($35)
Skirt: Thrifted ($3)
Belt: AA
Necklace c/o Kdikio Vintage
Tights: TjMaxx
Flowers: friend's mom's house
It seems like every time Chris and I drive North, it becomes more and more difficult to return to the city. Growing up in Rural New Hampshire and Maine, we love being in the woods, especially this time of year when the trees and mountains are blazing with the colors of autumn. On Friday we headed North for a friend's wedding and went straight to the rehearsal and set-up at the location: The Russell-Colbath House on the Kancamagus Highway. It was wonderfully freezing when we got up there, I love it when the weather gets cold! The foliage was even worth getting stuck behind all the tourists on the drive up, so pretty! We used to drive the "Kanc" all the time when I was younger, and more often than not we would see a moose or some other kind of wild-life. No moose this weekend, but I did see a few foxes.

I wanted to wear something fall-ish, so I went with a denim button-up and suede skirt. This skirt has become a little too big over the past year, so rather than not wearing it at all, I cinched the top like a paper-bag style skirt. To keep warm, I threw on my new favorite thing: this sweater from ModCloth. It's so warm and cozy! I love cozy sweaters!
I have lots to share from this weekend, It was so hard to come home last night! Fall is my favorite season, especially when I can spend some time at my mom's house in Maine. The trees are always brighter and the air is always incredibly crisp and smells like wood-smoke. All I want to do is drink cider and make apple-crisp this time of year. Now we are back home in the city and dreaming of the next weekend we can head north.

How was your weekend?

I'm assuming you've already seen "Granite State of Mind" a dozen times, but in case you haven't" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bX7nQrCgALM

I can't drive the Kanc now without thinking, "It's not the Kanc-a-man-gus, it's the Kanc-a-ma-gus..."

That sweater looks so cozy and warm! I love the whole look. This time of year it's really necessary to get out of the city, even if it's just for a day. I'm glad you had a good weekend!

I love the city, but I do feel increasingly drawn to the country myself, especially in the autumn. It looks absolutely lovely there..

I love these pictures! I just mentioned in my latest post that I am a bit sad to be missing fall this year as I decided to move to Mexico for the winter. I grew up in RI and went to college in VT, and I adore the colors of the foliage this time of year! Thanks for giving me a peek at what I miss the most!

Your trip sounds like so much fun! I wish I lived more north so I could be experiencing the beautiful fall weather. But I'm going to have to wait a wait to wear all the cosy clothes that are piling up in my wardrobe.

I love when you write about New Hampshire! I've lived here my whole life & it's quite coincidental that one of my favorite bloggers lived here too. (: I was just up on the Kancamagus a little over a week ago- the foliage is so beautiful. :D

you look SO pretty in that first picture! And that sweater looks much better on you than on the modcloth mannequin, I wouldn't have guessed it would drape like it does on you. I so know what you mean about New Hampshire, it's so peaceful and different! It makes it hard for me to believe I ever lived in Mission Hill.

your outfit is so pretty here, because all the colors look like they fit right in with the leaves! i love the shade of those tights, and the flowers in your hair. ~joelle

I'm so envious of your time in rural New England! I'm from Vermont, but I've been away at school and missed 4 leaf peeping season now. All I want is to drive through bright red and orange mountains and then go home and sip some warm cider. I got to go apple picking this weekend, but Pittsburgh has nothing on up North.

Love your sweater - so cozy!
