This dress is one of the more special things in my wardrobe, I've had it since I was in 7th grade. It was passed down to me after my late-aunt passed away from Leukemia, and I'm assuming it was handmade by her. Unfortunately, she passed away before Google came into existence, and my searches for information have turned up nothing, I DO know she played the Sugarplum Fairy in the Boston Ballet's rendition of the Nutcracker, and also enjoyed swing and contra dancing (Mom, if I'm wrong about any of this it's because you didn't get my fact-checking phone call). Anyways, I remember playing dress-up with this dress when I was younger (yes, I still played dress up in 7th grade...and I still do now), and honestly had forgotten about it until last summer when I found it at my mom's. I have miraculously grown into it! It's not one that I wear often, for fear of ruining it but Friday was a special occasion: My last full day of work for The College! Actually, I shouldn't say full day, as I got out at 1pm. Chris made plans for us to go into Boston, so we caught the 2:30 train and spent the afternoon and evening exploring Harvard Square, Newbury Street, and the Public Gardens. I felt extremely pretty.
We both wore our red shoes:

This dress was also perfect for debuting my new Jeffrey Campbell Splendid Clogs. You may remember them from this post, well I went ahead and ordered them. I can tell you one thing, it will be my last sorta-splurge for awhile, but I love them. My feet held up for most of the night, but I did get a couple of blisters.
I loved hearing your thoughts on my last post, I feel similarly to most of you in that, lately F21 and H&M just haven't been worth visiting. Maybe it's due to the backlash F21 has been receiving in regards to copyright infringement, I know I would be livid if I was a designer and saw my work cheaply copied by a mass-retailer. Perhaps they're reacting to that and cutting back on how blatantly they copy designers and popular fashion. Who knows, I admit to still going in there occasionally, if only to re-stock my collection of metal cross rings.
How was your weekend?

What a great dress!
Oh! That dress combined with those shoes is just sheer perfection!
I can't wait for my trip into Boston coming up in the next few weeks!
What a lovely dress! I love finding unique clothing that older ladies in my family, like my mom or grandmother, have worn that I can wear now too :)
So pretty!
I've always been a fan of playing dress up, and I firmly believe it's something you are never too old to do. I love this dress, and it's such a lovely keepsake to have of your aunt (who sounds like quite a happening lady by the way!).
Congratulations on your last day at the college! I'm sure there are many exciting things in store for you in the weeks and months to come.
This dress is stunning! I wish I had special pieces from my mother, as she passed away from cancer several years ago. Unfortunately, it was before I really appreciated clothing. Either way, this dress is one of a kind, and very striking on you.
I love special pieces with a story! You look beautiful in this dress, and I love that it has so many memories for you. Those JC platforms are a-mazing... Definitely worth the splurge. Good luck in your new adventures!
What a special, gorgeous dress. Love it! And it looks smashing with that pretty red shoe accent!

This dress makes your waist look so tiny and it's freaking adorable! Oh, and I love the letter necklace, so cute.
What a beautiful dress and beautiful story that goes with it! I am also in awe of how you style your fabulous hair - I wish I had a tenth of your hair styling skills!

Gorgeous! Gotta love those hand made clothes...
lovely dress!
I was actually in my F21 today, and there was a sign that said they're improving their fit and materials soon. maybe they've gotten complaints!
I've bought a few things recently that were fine, but I try to check for quality since I've bought some dresses that didn't even make it out of the washing machine before.
Gahh, that's such a pretty outfit. It's absolute perfection with those gorgeous red shoes.
No wonder you felt pretty. You definitely are.
A beautiful dress and an even more lovely story. Your aunt sounds like she was an amazing person.
I can't deny it, I've always been skeptical of anything homemade from relatives, but that dress has completely changed my mind.

Oh my gosh that dress.... it's amazing. I was scrolling frantically to see where you bought it and at first my heart sank when I saw it was made by your aunt - but then I was soooo impressed. She must have been an amazing seamstress - it looks perfect!
I am in love with your clogs. I've been contemplating the black ones because I don't wear super high heels often so they would be most practical.
