Blue and Black All Over

In this outfit:
Dress c/o Ruche
Shoes c/o Lulu's
Necklace:Vintage/Avalon ($15)
Bracelet: Thrifted ($2)

This outfit is from the beginning of the week, back when it was only 85 degrees. Back when wearing a dress and jewelry that touched my body was manageable. By this point, I've regressed to wearing cut-offs and a t-shirt to work to combat the 95 degree heat and humidity that has slowly creeped in as the week's progressed. Never have I been more thankful to work in an air-conditioned (and very casual) office. Don't get me wrong, I love summer- it's my favorite season!- it's just funny to me how at a certain point in the year, concerns about style get thrown out the window in favor of summer survival.

I hope I'm making sense. I didn't get much sleep last night, we had two fans going and it was like sleeping in a wind turbine...

How do you beat summer heat?

Love the maxi. It's been in the 80's and now 90's in VT. So humid! Yesterday I spent part of the hiding in my apartment from the heat. Our place tends to be naturally cool as its and old building surrounded by trees but even it started to get warm by mid afternoon. A cold afternoon shower and cold beverage helped. By early evening when I went to meet some girlfriends at an air conditioned bar (thank god!) I had thrown on a super light cotton skirt and tank. Today I'm working in air conditioning and wore a short cotton tank dress. I don't how I'm going to get through our kickball game tonight. Maybe I'll have to jump in the lake after right by where we play!

Cute dress! Today I decided that a strapless dress would have to work, because it is SO HOT. Problem is, that really doesn't solve any problems because now I'm just getting really burned up. :/ lol

What a fantastic dress, I am in love with that color of blue. And those shoes are pretty killer too. And I must say I simply adore your hair, it's just so wonderful.

Those shoe are AMAZING! I love the leather and the floral together. Also, I remember when this dress came out last year. I was in love with it then and I'm in love with it now!

I'm so jealous that you can wear shorts to work! Our building is usually cold so I still wear jeans and cardigans in the heat :) haha. I do take the cardi off outside though. I love the dress in these photos! And also: your hair is amazing.

I'm working on my back deck right now, since my employer is awesome and is letting me work from home until I relocate. But that also means I'm drowning in pools of sweat. Not attractive.

I do however get to wear my bathing suit, so "going to work" is okay :P

I live in a place where it reaches the mid-90s by 11 o'clock in the morning, so I know what you mean! There comes a certain point in the summer when anything fashion-related is abandoned in favor of a short, breezy dress. But I just love that maxi dress on you! Perfect colors.

Going to the library is always my favorite thing to do after work when my apartment is super hot. I love a good book, but my guilty pleasure is the magazine section at the library. I could spend days in the AC there.

Loving everything about this dress, the colours, the patterns, the cut, the pleats. Gorgeous.

I generally beat the heat with a good old fashioned Ice Cream!

despite the havoc it will wreak on my wallet, both air conditioning units are running full blast in my air apartment.

i had to step outside to pick up an americano (need to stay awake to beat jet lag), and essentially put a navy loose mumu on to cover my nakedness. NOT attractive.

this dress is lovely! light and flowing and ideal for summer.

Ugh heat. The only good time to sweat is working out or laying out...besides that I hate it. Sadly, I do it daily apart from those two listed activities. I have no great ideas for clothing either-I want to go around in as little as possible, but the reality is my body is not so teeny-tiny and the less I wear the wider it can look. Sigh. I do love your dress though:)

I'm super jealous of your Summer heat, I'm in the middle of Winter at the moment and wrapped up in layer upon layer.

That necklace is so fantastic. I absolutely melt in heat anytime it crawls above 20 (celsius that is, I'm not so good with the whole fahrenheit thing) Good luck staying cool.

That shade of blue looks really gorgeous on you! And as for staying cool...I'm lucky enough that my house is air conditioned. However, we sometimes keep it off to save money. Then, I'm always sucking down ice water and wearing clothes that are as loose as possible...and eating popsicles!

I am in love with those shoes. You look great, but those shoes distracted me from the post!

Lately, I've been spending most of my time in front of the fan in my underwear. Haha.
