2. Explore our new city and explore our new region.
We're now living in a part of the country that neither Chris nor I have ever really explored. Now that we're close to all these new states, I want to take advantage of that with plenty of road trips and new experiences.
3. Continue to push myself athletically.
In 2011 I went from using three pound free weights in my weight training regimen, to using twelve and a half pound free weights. This is something I'm extremely proud of, I have my arthritis under control and I'm stronger than I have ever been. I never saw myself as someone who could stick to an exercise regimen, but suddenly I am that person. This year, I want to get outside more for hikes, and start swimming at the gym.
4. Pay off debts and start saving for a home.
This will be the year that I significantly pay down my student loans and my credit card. Last year was hard, this year I'm vowing to get it done.
5. Go on more dates with my husband.
more romance is always a good thing.
6. Make more of an effort to write letters, and keep in touch.
This was one of last years goals as well, but it's especially important now that I live so far away from everyone I love.
7. Be more outgoing.
Here's my little secret: I have a terrible habit of being a recluse. This is another thing that is very important for me to change since we've moved. I want to do more and meet new people!
So, these are my resolutions! Are you making resolutions? What's top on your list for things to do this year? Things to change?

Happy 2012! Did you have a wonderful time celebrating the new year? Chris and I stayed in because I was sick, but we still had a great time cooking food and hanging out. Because of my mystery sickness (we still don't know what it was, despite going to the doctors), this is about as sparkly as things got (on Thursday). But I love having a versatile sequined top in my wardrobe now! I have so many plans on how I want to remix this!
Have you made your New Year Resolutions yet? I've actually been thinking a lot about mine. 2011 was such a great year, I want to keep that momentum going. So, here are my 2012 Resolutions:
1. Continue to learn.
I've noticed something in the past few months: I haven't been reading as much. I want to push myself to get to the library when I say I'm going to, to check out new classes in the area, and to follow my interests.

happy new year! your goals are all very inspiring, i love setting goals and having a fresh start in the new year.
I also really like your sequined top, I haven't yet found something similar (I'd love to own a simple sequined dress.)
happy new year! all wonderfully positive and inspiring resolutions, please keep us all updated on the progress.
there was an editorial in the wsj magazine a few weeks ago, with a sequined blouse over a button-down; i love, love, love the look and have been meaning to emulate it!

I LOVE this outfit! It's a great example of how you can dress down dressy items in order to use your whole wardrobe year-round. Good luck on all your resolutions. :)
I love your sequin top!
I also started to do more sports in 2011 - I hope you continue with yours!

One of my friends started a girl's night/article club where we all read a longer New Yorker-style article and discuss it at one of our apartments...it's great for both learning and catching up! :)
(Also, if you haven't been to Phipps yet, it's lovely! Seriously beautiful! I don't live in Pittsburgh, but if I did, you can bet I'd get a yearly membership!)
@Bridget: I love the idea of an article club! And i haven't been to Phipps yet, but I can't WAIT to go!
Julie, this is such a great list for 2012 - I absolutely loved reading about your goals and I'm super inspired to hear that you've become an exercise person it's something that I'm definitley striving for too. And your outfit is SO stunning, love that pop of sequin you look beautiful. Happy 2012, lovely lady!! xo veronika
I LOVE this pretty sequined top and I love these resolutions (especially 5 and 6!). Best to you in 2012!
I am so in love with your sequin top. I like how you've dressed it down a bit with the chambray shirt underneath. Looks great!

I'm usually not big on sequins and sparkles, but I do love your outfit! It's so cute!
Your list of resolutions is great... I'm considering actually making a list of my own this year to get more on track for 2012!

Love that outfit! Sequins can be a bit overbearing, but the way you styled it is fantastic and fun.
I had no idea you had arthritis! I've had fibromyalgia since college. You have such a positive attitude, it's really inspiring.

Love the sparkly top! You sure do rock it! btw, I'm totally with you on the resolution of continuing to learn. It seems like something that would be obvious but it's kind of crazy how it can be neglected. Good luck this year!
I am also a very recluse person. I was however kinda forced to go out of my shell when I got a dog and started taking him out and to dogparks. Everyone wants to be friends with you, talk to you about your dog and have your dog play with their dogs. It's amazing how much more outgoing I am and I've also met loads of nice people, just because I own a dog.
You should give Chris that bulldog he wanted and see for yourself ;)
Birta: We want a dog so badly! We;ve been keeping an eye out for a sweet bulldog on petfinder!
Lovely resolutions!
You look stunning, this sparkly top is amazing and perfect for New Year's Eve! Oh and I really, really adore your hair.
Life is a romantic poem
Great resolutions & I little that you kept your list small. Writing letters is such a lost art ...

Your shirt is so perfect! I love how it can easily be dressed up or down.
One of my resolutions is to write a novel, and lucky for me one of my writing assignments is to write a 100 page novel. Score! I wish you the best of luck on your resolutions. :)
Love the sparkle!

Wow! That sparkly top is the most fun thing ever! Happy New Year!
I've been lurking on your blog for a while and just wanted to say I love it! Keep up the good work in 2012! Also, I have a weird form of arthritis and started lifting free weights this year and have also noticed a huge difference. I feel more in control of the pain and more in control of my body in general!
I love the way you wore the bracelet! The sparkles inside the beads look great with the sequins - or maybe I'm just biased ;)
Love it! Thanks <3
