Cat Friday: Meet Louie!

Meet our fluffy friend, Louie! He's staying with us while our friend Hans gets settled in his new home of Austin, TX. Introducing a new cat to our household was not an easy feat. For awhile Louie hung out in our bathroom, waiting to meet the Z's. Zephyr liked to sit outside the bathroom and hiss at him through the door, while Zeb just wanted to get a good look. Slowly I got them to play a little together under the door, and eventually Louie made his debut. Things were tense for a few days, and then for a little while all seemed well, but unfortunately Lou had a case of the nerves and he's back in the bathroom recuperating. He does get along great with Zeb and Zephyr now though. The best part of a fluffy orange cat? Belly rubs.

Oh, I adore kitty yawns! What a handsome fellow. almost exactly the same thing happens when I'm forced to bring my cat with me on visits to my parents' house... I have to keep him in my old room while my mom's cats peek through the bottom of the door: one curious, one hostile. We've tried introducing them unsuccessfully... yes, my poor 12 lb teddy bear of a feline is scared of two little girls!

AW, i love that you're cat-sitting! my kitty is so teeny that any other animal scares the life out of her! when we went away, she stayed in my mom's room with the door shut!

Ugh, cats are terrible at getting to know each other. I love them--I have 3--but why can't they just get along right off the bat like dogs??

What a cutie though!! That yawning picture is *priceless*!

When we first brought our kitten home, we kept him in a separate room, like you are supposed to do. Or, at least, I thought we were. Turns out Mr. BF was waiting until I went to sleep, then taking the kitten out of the other room and playing with both cats. One night I wake up at, like, 3am and he's not there. I stumble out, wondering what I am going to find him doing, and find him laying on the floor, playing with cats. Fortunately, since the one was a kitten, he just sort of bent to the older cat's will.

cuuute! That's a great yawn! I remember when we added Hamilton, our third cat, to the fam. The adjustment was stressful for all and there were a couple of times where we got really scared it wasn't going to work, but after a couple weeks we came home from work to find the 3 of them all snuggled up. (and let out a huuuge sigh of relief.)
