It's still summer. It's still hot as hell. These are the facts that I've been forced to come to terms with the past couple of days. I've been telling myself to avoid the shorts section at the thrift store, thinking that it's almost over and purchasing shorts would be silly and fruitless at this point. Ha! I got in my car this afternoon and the thermometer read 101*! In need of a little inspiration I took a trip to my local thrift place, knowing that the shorts I tried on a few days ago would most likely still be there, they were.
I've been living in a certain pair of cut offs all summer, and they're looking a little worse for the wear. I love the faded floral pattern of these, especially when paired with my favorite button up and darker accessories. I'm not sure if I want to leave them cuffed or hem them, thoughts?

This weekend was delightfully low key, no hospital visits for anyone involved! I really enjoyed just hanging out with Chris and running errands, it doesn't take much to please me. Our hospital free-week ends tomorrow though, we've got to head back into Boston tomorrow afternoon for a follow-up. I'm glad he's on the upswing, and at least healing. We both are rooting for an actual cast tomorrow, so that we can draw stuff on it. Poppeye tattoos? A squid? there are so many cast-drawing possibilities!
Have a good night!

you made the right choice going back for those shorts, they look great on you. Work perfectly with the denim shirt too. I'm so jealous you live near Boston, it's one of my favourite places on Earth!
I like them cuffed! I love the pattern on them, and with this shirt, it's perfection.
Good thing your weekend didn't include any trips to the hospital. O.O
Those shorts are great!
I'm also torn on buying for the next season or continuing to snatch up what I like from this season.
I'm glad the shorts will still there because they look awesome on you! I love them paired with the chambray shirt!
I really love this outfit!!!
i like the shorts like this, don't bother heming them. they look really good with the shirt x

So, I've been reading for a while, I haven't commented before, but I really enjoy your blog. I was in Northern Mass today, and I think I saw you shooting these pictures! I would have come up and introduced myself, but I was on my way to a date with a friend and I didn't have any time!
I just wanted to let you know that I came home and told my boyfriend about it and he said I made it sound like I saw a celebrity (which I kind of feel like I did!) I hope that doesn't sound weird, I was just really surprised to see you IRL!

You look so comfortable. I love that you are going to tattoo the cast. It reminds me of the friend on Pete and Pete! You know...Michelle Trachtenburg lol
I love the cuffed look on the floral shorts! Great summer look!
Small Time Style
Sweet ring Julie! I bought a sweater and some autumn shoes at my thrift store this weekend, then packed them away in my closet (sad) promptly upon returning home to 99-degree weather. Blech.
love this outfit!
Those shorts are awesome! And your ring is super lovely
:)
love 'em how they are!
ps - where is fall?!?!!? :/
I think they look divine cuffed like that! They're the perfect length, and the pattern is very subtle and pretty. What a find!

I love the color of the shirt. So fresh and complimentary.
Yeah, I'm pretty much over summer. The only things I'll miss are sandals and summer squash. Good call on going back for those shorts.
Cute shorts! I vote hem :) I think it will update them just enough! Though, I cuff would look cute if you plan to wear them with tights in the fall!
You have the best figure & legs! I'm working on that...
love the shorts and chambray- very very summery
You made the right choice to go back for them, they are so cute :)

I like them cuffed! While the whole world is reaching record highs, here on the CA coast we are still in the sixty degree range! I've been living in my cut-offs too, but there is usually a big comfy sweatshirt involved too! ;)

i say leave 'em cuffed! they look adorable.

I just love the floral pattern on these shorts! Think I rocked a pair like these back in the nineties... oh, yes. You've given me some great outfit inspiration! Hope ya don't mind if I copy? :)
definitely keep the cuffs!
Love this outfit! I would def keep them cuffed.
PS. Is the Savers you go to the one in Danvers? I stopped by there the other day and found so many amazing things!
So cute! I love your shorts :)
clothed much, a modest fashion blog
i love those shorts! what a nice look for late summer!
I hope Chris is doing alright! Hospitals are always such a mood-killer! And these shorts are adorable. I try not to buy many pairs, because I feel like they don't suit me - but in weather like this they're a necessity.
Those shorts are great! I'm sure you'll get your six dollars worth out of them!

im so impressed with your shorts thrifting skills! hard to reason with $5, but i also think shorts are going to be big into fall with heavy tights.. and next year of course! i've been hunting all summer but i can never find cute ones in my size :(
CLOTHESURE
that shirt looks like it's just about the comfiest thing ever. a perfect casual summer look.

I love how you can do whimsical and edgy, tomboyish and sexy all at the same time! you have a great style.

I'd say definitely keep them cropped instead of hemming! The print is GORGEOUS.
Keep the shorts as they are! They are SO cute.
such a simple but perfect summer outfit. Love!
I always wish that the shorts section in my thrift store has high waist jean shorts with a print on them, but I can never find some...
That's a very nice outfit. very simple and easy, yet has "something" in it.
