A Quiz: When life gives you lemons, you....

A. Make lemon bars B. Get some grain alcohol and make limoncello C. Make lemonade or D. All of the above?
Shirt: Vintage via Savers ($7)
T-Shirt (worn underneath): Forever 21 ($6)
Jeans: BDG via Urban Outfitters (gift)
Cardigan: H&M ($16)
Shoes: Karen Millen via Buffalo Exc. ($45)
Belt: Thrift via Savers ($3)
Necklaces: H&M, Dolly&Boy
Bracelets: Vintage via thrift
If you answered D to the above question, you are correct! I am not having a good day, as you may have surmised from the title of this post. The awesome and amazing thing I alluded to last week did not pan out as I had hoped (although not hopeless) and on top of that I feel as though I have been a bit "checked out" of this blog, lacking focus and inspiration. Bah, having realized all that, I am determined to get caught up this week. I feel like this happens every April, or even every Spring, life just gets 1,000 times more complicated right before Summer. I'm sorry, I don't want to sound like I'm whining or being a baby, I just felt as though an explanation was needed as to why I've been so... Weird? Uncooperative? Flaky? Flaky. That's it, the perfect word: Flaky. I have been super f'ing flaky.

Anyways, on to my outfit! Whew! Sorry! Last week Chris and I made a quick stop to Savers (quick being used loosely here) where he came across this awesome vintage silk men's shirt. It has Native Americans all over it! Being too small for him (and questionable for Chris to don a silk shirt in the first place), it ended up in MY cart. It's actually big enough to be a dress if I wanted it to be, but I like it belted and flounced out. To even things out with the flouncy top and skinny jeans, I added a pair of huge platforms that make me about 10 inches taller than I should be.

Also, this isn't clothing related but isn't this beautiful:
I walk under this flowering canopy on the way from my apartment to work every morning and afternoon and I think it's just so beautiful. Every Spring, our town is filled with plum blossoms on these trees. I think because it's been so cold, the flowers have stayed around much longer than usual.

And another side note: Today is Noémie's birthday! To celebrate, she is offering free shipping on everything in her Etsy Shop! Definitely check out her work, it's beautiful. She was kind enough to send me an amazing pair of earrings that I will be posting about tomorrow. Happy Birthday Noémie!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Sorry you're having a tough day...but you look gorgeous so it all evens out, right ;)

and btw I ran out and bought dry shampoo yesterday after reading the hair post. I adore your hair and I think my issue is washing my hair too much so dry shampoo to the rescue!

Aw, don't even worry about feeling flaky. I totally understand the kind of stress and busy-ness that you're under. It's definitely true that spring gets 1000x busier than other seasons for some reason. I hope things start feeling more sorted out for you, soon. On the upside, you look gorgeous!

When life gives you lemons, stick 'em in your bra. Can't hurt, might even help.

You really walk a beautiful street to work, its gorgeous. It looks really quaint too, but I have no idea about american towns so I could be way off.

Good luck with your flaky feelings! You don't look one bit flaky in the photos :)

This is beautiful where you live! i agree about the flowers staying around longer than normal. It is the same here. It seems that some of the trees have been flowering for weeks and weeks! It is beautiful though.

Ugg April makes me grumpy too, but it just has to do with finals looming and other school related things. Anyway, I love Savers, I bought about 4 belts myself the other week. $3 for woven leather?? Hell yes. Hope you have a better week :)

In the rare event that you come to Nashville, don't bring this shirt with you because my boyfriend might try and steal it from you. He is Native American (and nowegian which is why he looks blonde haired blue eyed) and loves ANYTHING native american inspired... This outfit is awesome.

Go ahead and feel flaky, its okay. Total freedom to just be uninspired and over it. It happens... you get tired of the internet and blogging and outfits and hair posts and comments and e-mails. It is a lot to juggle to be working full time and devoting most other outside time to blogging. I really appreciate your honesty Julie!

No worries, all bloggers get flaky every now and then! It happens to me every couple of months. I'll have tons of inspiration for awhile, and then suddenly I'll just have...nothing. :/

And I love that last picture, it's so pretty! :)

Aww, I'm sorry that you're feeling blue, but you look very beautiful.

I can definitely empathize with seasonal changes effecting your moods - only I experience mine right before the Winter months and receive a surge of inspiration before Summer.

This, too, shall pass. :)

wow, great use of the men's shirt! the platforms look amazing on you. and that picture at the end is so beautiful.

and don't worry, blogging shouldn't be about presenting the ideal version of ourselves to the world, it should include all of our weird, flakey moments and awkward quirks! :) i love your honesty!
