Sunny Side Up!

Although it's actually quite cloudy today...
Dress: Dolce & Gabbana via Marshalls via Adria (hand-me-down)
Over-Coat: H&M (79.00)
Belt: Vintage via Thrift (1.00)
Necklace: Flea Market in Maine (1.00)
Tights: TjMaxx (4.99)
Shoes: Target (6.99 sale)
Yep, you read that correctly: Dolce & Gabbana. This dress is one of my most cherished items. A few years ago my friend Adria brought it home triumphantly from Marshall's, having bought it for only $15 bucks (so cheap, presumably because of a little snag in the shoulder). I have loved it since then and, when she moved to Scotland last year, it found it's final -and rightful, dare I say- home with me. The intense lemon yellow color makes me ridiculously happy whenever I wear it -which results in me grinning like an idiot- and it's also great for cold weather (like today) because it's a wool blend. I certainly needed the cheerful color too, as I mentioned last week I'm almost done with travel for work and the time has come to get my life back in order which means cleaning and organizing and weeding through boat-loads of old emails! Blagh!

*EDIT* a correction of sorts, Adria writes: "I am racking my brain cause I think I might have lied to you about the origins of this dress. I think, I THINK maybe it was from a Filene's that was going out of business? I vaguely remember a 90% off sticker. Something insane! A win!"

I adore the color of this dress, and love that you are wearing such a bright dress in December! I love winterizing bright and light colors and florals, and you did it perfectly!

This is a fantastic post! LOVE the dress, LOVE the coat, LOVE the accessories, LOVE the location. The color combinations are just perfect (both in your outfit and in the overall photo). And I'm super jealous that you snagged that dress from Dolce & Gabbana (or your friend, at least). Lucky you to have such a great friend (and now, such a great dress, too!)

This is stunning! Wow, what luck at Marshall's... I never seem to have luck with clothes there.. only tights.. hmm.. looks like I may have to visit more! Don't you just love wearing bright colors on gloomy days? It's the only way I keep motivated.

Jules, so lovely, it was made for you. It makes me happy to see that Dolce gem in the rightful home. Gray with that hue is spectacular, a lemon dream! I am racking my brain cause I think I might have lied to you about the origins of this dress. I think, I THINK maybe it was from a Filene's that was going out of business? I vaguely remember a 90% off sticker. Something insane! A win!

Perfect hand-me down dress. My hand-me downs when I was young were practical and sturdy leather shoes from my brothers... this is much better.
I love how you toned down the brightness with neutrals. Perfection!
