Happy Tuesday! Did you all have a nice weekend? Ours was exactly what Chris and I needed. We even had a whole two days off, together, which is incredibly rare, and I took full advantage of having three days off myself. Just as I planned, I did some shopping- though only came away with a vintage funeral home cart we'll use as a drink caddy (pictures to come because as you can probably imagine, it's amazing)- ate lots of food, hung out with friends, and generally avoided the internet at all costs. The weather was incredible, in the 90's! On Sunday we did lots of house and yard-work, and it was worth the sweat and almost-tears that housework in 90 degree weather will cause, I feel like our place has finally come together.
I've been loving any combination of blue and white lately, this one one of those very warm days last week that just called for simplicity. And when simplicity is needed, you can't really go wrong with chambray and linen.
Thank you also to those who left kind words on Saturday's post, I hope those of you who also experienced less-than stellar weeks last week have much better times in the days ahead. Things are definitely looking up over here.

Julie, your weekend off with Chris sounds awesome. Martin & I rarely get time off together, it's terrible really - when did life get so freakin busy!! However, it makes those days together that much sweeter, right?! :)
And yay for simplicity it's so been more and more my frame of mind when I put my outfits together. And I REALLY need to get a chambray skirt because I absolutely adore how you rock yours. Here's to a better week! xo V
Perfect. I love the pattern in the bag just tying everything together.
Julie,
How do you deal with humidity and having your hair down? I have long thick hair too, and when summer comes I start to look like a crazy jungle lady. But yours looks smooth and lovely. Any tips??
Thanks!
Something I always love about your outfits is that even when they look so simple and breezy, there are unexpected details, like the pattern on your top and your earrings.
Sounds like a great weekend Julie, its amazing how a little time with the people you love, being productive and the sunshine can refresh things!

Anon: I totally feel your pain! I'll see if I can get a whole post together with tips for next week, but just know that my hair usually lives in a bun all summer because I can't handle it either! I recommend shampooing twice a week, adding argon oil to the ends when it's damp, and avoiding heat styling as much as possible.
perfect outfit is perfect. i love the length of that skirt! oh, (made)well, too bad it's sold out. on an unrelated note, i am LOVING how your bangs have grown out. i'd love to read any tips you have about managing them in the meantime.
Love the outfit, especially the purse! We got lots of planting and gardening done as well, perfect weather for it!

jeeze, doing work in 90 degree weather, you're a trooper. i was laying in a pool all week, refusing to come out haha.
i always love how you add little details to a simple outfit that makes it pretty. like those earings and that purse- they're little things but they snazz it right up!
Your hair parted like that is so very pretty!! Love the outfit too. Miss you!
you've always been so good at simplicity with your own spin. i love love this outfit!

Glad to hear things are better and you had a good weekend with your sweetie. I had one day off with my husband and it was much needed. We bought a new to me vintage bike on Monday from a friend and took an amazing long ride together. Enjoyed drinks and snacks after with friends in the sun followed by a impromptu dinner party at our house later. An awesome Memorial Day. Even though I worked the weekend we had fun in the evenings. Friday night went to dinner with friends who have kids we don't see as often as we use to. Saturday night we had a date and tried out a new neapolitan pizza place and had a great dinner and bottle of wine. Sunday was a chill evening at home and catching up with Mad Men. The weather was hot but beautiful all weekend too. Love you outfit! Have a great week!

You look beautiful! I am glad to see that you got to rest a bit after your awful week last week. Nothing like a bit of elegant simplicity, either x
