85 degree weather is the stuff my inner slob can only dream of. Every year I anxiously await the days where I can roll out of bed, throw on shorts and a tee, and go. Since starting a blog, I know I've put too much pressure on myself to dress up in the summer, usually resulting in me overheating and being uncomfortable. Not this year, as the weather warms up, I refuse to over complicate things. I'm not sure why I over-think, because the summer outfits I find myself admiring are always the simplest.
What's your summer uniform? Do you keep it simple, or layer it up?

This is like, the perfect outfit. I might replicate this as soon as Minnesota makes up its mind about being hot or cold. Love the tank top so much!
i really like layering, my eyes aren't pleased when it's too simple. but just like you said, i won't do it if it's hot enough to melt your popsicle outside. i feel like if you throw a jean vest over anything the outfit automatically becomes more fun- i'm semi-addicted :)

That is definitely some good thinking, it just gets too hot somedays to wear much more than shorts/skirt and shirt. Love this outfit too by the way, that skirt is wonderful
For me this summer it is going to pretty much be nothing more than work pants and a shirt for me, we are going to try our best to get this house done enough for us to move into it before our wedding this October up here! Eeee! Fingers crossed!

hey julie, i love your shirt and skirt! for the summer weather i don't layer it up. it's too hot! but i do layer up the accessories. it adds some funk to my outfits when you can't with extra clothing due to the heat!

Ooo I love your tank - and the skirt and espadrilles! Perfect summer look! I love in SE Texas - right on the Gulf where it is 100 + in the summer with 90% humidity!! No layering!! No waistbands if I can manage it!! Simple for summer is best - and on those days where its just unbearable - a bikini and a beach (or pool) is the best summer look of them all! "Bikini Body" definitely not required :)

those wedges are adorable! :) i live in the midwest where it gets ridiculously hot AND humid. i've learned to kind of sacrifice the cute-ness. haha. this outfit looks perfect though!
I'm such a sucker for layering, I always want to bring it into my summer looks...but the past couple summers have been too hot to really make that feasible! I love those wedges - can't believe they were a thrifting find!

i just returned from new orleans, where humidity is such that walking outside results in instant stickiness, everywhere. i wore a single layer dress, as my body could not handle any more fabric. i could not live there and feel like i was living up to sartorial potential!

Definitely outfits like this for the summer!! And forgiving cotton dresses and maybe some breezy linen :) Most of all though, I love my PJs.
Don't over complicate things! I good thing maybe is when having your morning coffee, wander outside for a couple minutes, and see how the day makes you feel <33

I feel you about the heat! Although I usually find myself pining for my cardigans just so I have something to layer and make my outfits more interesting in the summer. Alas, 99 degrees isn't exactly optimal for any sort of layering...
