Last week, Pittsburgh decided it wanted summer and it wasn't going to wait. After a chilly and rainy weekend in Texas, I wasn't going to complain about it either. Sometimes I hate how much the weather affects my mood, I love being in a good mood- don't get me wrong- but the difference a little sun and warmth make is sometimes shocking- both my mood and my productivity level skyrocket (I cleaned my car!).
Along with a good mood, the warm weather brought with it plenty of new inspiration. This black dress has long been a favorite of mine, and I'm always looking for new ways to mix it up. I love it because it's comfortable, easy to wear, and makes me feel a little like Stevie Nicks-lite. I received this high-low hem skirt-thing at the Lulu's Swap in Austin, and have been playing around with how to wear it- layering it over pants, skirts, and dresses-and the two just fit together perfectly. I've been hemming and hawing over whether or not to keep these boots- I thrifted them a year ago and have only worn them twice- but actually really loved how they looked with a long sheer skirt. It was just incredibly refreshing to wear something different, and shed some layers.

Have you tried anything new style-wise lately?

I was just talking to someone about this the other day- the weather has such a huge effect on my mood! Clearly I need to move back to somewhere where it's sunny and warm most of the time! Love the high-low hem and those boots go so well with your outfit :)
I was desperately tying to figure out whether you had a triangle painted on your cheek in the second picture or not but then I twigged that it was your earring. Blonde moment of the day indeed (:
I finally cleaned out my car too! I love how productive I get with the warm weather!
Layering that skirt and dress is such a good idea, especially with a maxi! I might try it myself. :) awesome outfit! (Wish Boston's nice weather would come back; it's been bouncing back from summer to winter for the past few weeks :( )

The other day I tried skirts and cardigans for the first time in my life! I don't think my parents like my new fashion sense (apparently they like me dressing in t-shirts and sweatpants all of the time), but we all only get one life, so we better live it the way we want to, you know?
I love this outfit!!
pretty amazing and the sunnies are so cute
Looking good! I'm very intrigued by the styles of the 60s (I hope I got the timeline right). High-waisted skirts, lots of colors and patterns.I want to try to work that into outfits soon.

I love this outfit, it's so bohemian and fresh. I always want to work that slouchy, sort of "free-people"-esque, fashion-y disheveled look, but I never feel like it looks right. You've totally nailed it!
love how you styled this! so funny because my post today is on the same exact thing--- taking an old piece and making it feel new :)

I really agree, the moment the sun comes out all the little daily stresses just vanish, plus longer days always seem to make me get more done. I like this outfit a lot and you Stevie Nicks -lite description is spot on. The boots are great, definitively worth keeping.
oh i love this!!!
Such a different look for you, but still so so perfect!

Those sunglasses are the best. End of story.
I've been trying to conquer separates - it's so easy to just throw on a dress and go, but I'm trying to mix it up a bit. I'm loving it! :)

First things first, those shoes are keepers. Don't convince yourself otherwise. ;)
Love how you layered the skirt and dress!
It's funny you mention Stevie Nicks! I was just going to say you do her proud :). You look SO fabulously seventies!
Stevie would love your outfit :)
Love it!
Glad the sun has been shinning for you too! We've had a surprising bout of good weather here too (shocking, Denmark is bad weather central) I wore loafers the other day and realized how good it was to be something other than boots. Loafers and jeans, my summer go to.
yay for sunny days! youre amazing :)

Ok how did I miss this post?! This look is aaaawesome! I still don't get which part is the skirt and which part is the dress (after some squinting) but either way it looks great. You look so boho and those sunnies just set it off. God I can't wait for summer already :/
