I'm not really off to school, but this outfit made me feel like I was. Or, at least made me look like an overgrown kid. That's cool. I wore this the week before last to work, then again on my weekend trip to New York. I was very comfortable, and very warm, which lately is all that matters. I've been amping up my thrifting these days, I've fallen in love with vintage and second hand again after a rather fruitless last few months in Massachusetts. Either way, I've found some great stuff that I can't wait to share with you all, along with some thrifting tips!
On a side note, I wanted to say thank you to all who left a helpful/supportive comment on Friday's post, either in response to our box-spring situation or my hair situation. Moving is tough, and the transition is only made tougher with four months of unrestful sleep and bad hair days. Ok, I'm being a little dramatic, they weren't all bad, but I think some of you may be able to relate to how I feel. It's the small things. Anyways, I'm planning a larger post about our moving experience soon.

In the meantime I'll leave you with this look of general distress:

Very jealous of your Fjallraven rucksack. :)
The unexpected color of those tights is so great...it keeps this from looking too school girl! Great job!
Also, your hair in these pictures is fabulous. I'm a little jealous. :)
XOXO, Lindsey

I love your coat with this outfit. It makes it look so polished
Pamela's breakfasts in Pittsburgh make everything better! There's one right near Phipps Conservatory-- you should go!
P.S I think your hair looks lovely :)
@Anon, I love Pamela's! The one near Phipps is actually dangerously close to our apartment :) (and thank you!)
ack, i've always wanted one of those backpacks! so cute :)
oh you look very cute here!
I so hear you Julie when Martin & I moved the transition, lack of sleep - it was tough, definitely took a little while to adjust. Best of luck with that. :)
And this outfit is SO lovely, love the silhouette, peek a boo collar + sweater. Oooh, and your hair?! Perfection, you've so mastered the top knot. xo veronika
this reminds me of my mother's all-girl high school uniform.... pleated plaid skirt and all. her high school "character" serves as a big inspiration for a lot of my fiction.
anyway, you look darling.

You have the most amazing coats--I wear the same coat all the time and have just realised I am really missing out!
You look so cute! I love the tights! Such a great color!
i love the outfit oh so much! reminds me of the my catholic school days, as much as i would love to forget the catholic part of it :) yes keeping warm is so important, it isn't as cold as it is where you are but the wind cuts through while riding so layers is good.

when I was living in Denmark last year, EVERYONE had a Fjallraven. from the blonde little preschoolers to the gorgeous university students, they all had them slung on their backs. of course, they cost about $200 over there, but I asked for one for Christmas and use it as a chic and worldly replacement for my gym bag.
i love everything about this look!
and that cute little collar is darling

What type of bun is that? It's so tidy but voluminous! Or maybe it's just because you have so much hair. :-) I'm a new reader but this outfit and hairstyle stuck out to me first, it's lovely.
