Whisk-er Me Away

In this outfit:
Dress: ModCloth
Shirt: Thrifted ($4)
Belt: Thrifted ($2)
Tights: AA (old)
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell (ModCloth)

Just so you're aware, expect puns anytime I wear the cat boots. Somehow wearing cats on your feet just causes a lack of seriousness. You know, I was wary of the tapestry trend at first, but I bought a pair of Bass loafers with a tapestry print awhile back and to my surprise found that it was more versatile that I thought it would be. With a closet full of brown shoes, I liked the change up in texture and color, almost like a camouflage. Or maybe I'm just forcing these to go with everything because they're covered in cats, that could very well be it too. It wouldn't be the first time my old lady tendencies got the better of me...and I'm sure it won't be the last.

When I add something this crazy to my closet, I always like to think about how much I loved (and still love) wearing crazy stuff of my mom's from the 70's and how, if I ever have children, I'll love passing stuff like this down to them.

What do you think about the tapestry trend, or even trends in general? Do you follow them? Do you not? Does it matter?

I love those cat boots. Not just because you're wearing cat boots, but I like the shape of the shoe itself.

The cats? ICING!

I'm a sucker for a good pun! My dad raised me on puns, so even though I might roll my eyes, they always draw a smile :)

As far as trends go - I would never get something just because it's "on trend," but neither would I avoid something for the same reason. If I like it, I get it, whether it's on trend or not! Just my two cents :)

Laura: I totally agree, I'm certainly not averse to trying things out, but I also don't just buy things because they're trendy. I always think about how much wear I can get out of something before I buy. Also, I love that your dad raised you on puns! what a fun thing to grow up with!

I feel like I really like a lot of trendy shapes but can't really afford to keep purchasing new stuff so I generally adopt trends in accesories (like shoes) or through tops which are easier to switch between more traditional pants and skirts.

Love the pun, your lace dress and the whimsy of those boots. I'm not sure the tapestry trend is for me but it looks great on you and a bunch of other style bloggers. I usually embrace trends after much consideration i.e. when they are going out of trend :)

I'm a fan of the cat boots! I didn't even know tapestry was a trend this season, I've always been drawn to it. As for trends, I don't pay much attention to them. If I like something, I'll buy it. I remember one of the biggest trends, when I was in high school, was buying logo t-shirts to the point where you were a walking advertisement. Now that I look back, I wish I wasn't about dressing up in Abercrombie or Tommy Girl (yep. I was that girl. gah.) and followed my own sense of style.

i have some vintage tapestry handbags that i adore; they are so beautiful. alas, none of them incorporate kittens, and so, no pun fun for me. sigh.

I like to follow trends that I connect with personally and feel really reflect my tastes. However, I will not follow a trend just for the sake of being "on trend." That way, I always feel confident in my clothes and don't feel guilty about spending money or time on fashion that just doesn't suit me.

I think the lace dress with the shirt under it is such s good and unique way of wearing pretty dresses when its cold. As for trends. I try not to slavishly follow them although sometimes they just creep up on me... I do have a couple of tapestry bags after all.

I have a pair of tapestry shoes (Luxe by Vans booties from 2011) and absolutely love them, I agree with the surprising versatility. I am a recovered Nike addict, so something about flashy shoes will always appeal to me but I find it so rarely translates into wearability, which is a huge priority for me. Those cat shoes are the best!

You look so gorgeous! I'm still so envious of your hair and these photos are are just so pretty as is your outfit. I've never given much thought to tapestry shoes, but I'm really digging those that you're wearing!

These pictures are amazing! I love the faded color and feel to the pictures, not to mention the best boots I think I have ever come across! I liked the boots before I even knew what was on them, but covered in cats?!?! AHH!
