Nearly Winter

This bag was a little Christmas gift to myself last week, although I'll admit to not feeling very wintery, or having much Holiday spirit at all. The weather here has been unseasonably warm, which just makes listening to holiday songs feel unnatural. Chris and I have decided to try out a tree this year, as we finally have the space for a small one. We've been cautious in the past because of our cat's penchant for destroying things, so we'll see, it could be perfectly fine. Or it could be a total disaster.

Anyways, last Saturday while Chris was at work I did a little exploring: hitting up an amazing Estate Sale and a Gabriel Brothers (which is like Reny's for those of you who live in Maine...or Building 19 for those of you who live in Massachusetts...anywhere else I don't have a comparison) where I found these J.Brand riding pants for a scant $20, I'm pretty excited about them. I usually shy away from non-denim pants, but I couldn't resist the velvet knee patches.

I've been in a style rut lately so thanks for reminding me skinnies, a button up and a cardigan can go a long way!

the bag is the perfect gift to yourself!

whenever i try to layer button downs over super thin cardigans, it always looks bulky...how did you manage to make it look so perfect????

building 19, lol. i haven't been to one of those in forever!

my first gabriel bros. experience: i scored a pair of suede jcrew loafers for $9.99, which was approx. $90 off the original price!

I really love the pink shirt and cardigan - its a lovely look. Also I totally relate to not feeling the seasonal spirit - i moved from the NE to Texas a few years back and its really weird listening to Christmas music when its 75 degrees out!

Aha, you discovered the glory of Gabriel Brothers (or "Gabe's" as I call it). I love that store. I've found a lot of Urban Outfitters there before and they usually have cute shoes on the cheap.

My friends who have cats swear by two tricks: either all cloth or wooden ornaments (cat's won't break those!) with catnip toys under the tree, or give the cats their own little tree with catnip on it and put a little fence up around yours (or put it up high; some people hang them upside down from the ceiling).

This is the perfect winter outfit in my opinion. It never gets extremely cold in South Africa so I could wear this the whole year round!
