March 9, 2011: florals and dusty rose

TShirt: Madewell (find it here)
Sweater: LOFT (swapped)
Skirt: Thrifted and hemmed ($3)
Belt: J.Crew outlet (gift)
OTK socks: American Apparel
Bracelet: Vintage (swapped)
These photos are deceptively spring-y and frankly I'm surprised they came out at all! When I stepped outside to take my shots, I was met with a surprisingly strong wind (not good when you're wearing a skirt), freezing temperatures, and a bit of snow. Boo. Afterwards I was forced to go inside and put on some thick tights and boots in anticipation for work, but for a short amount of time I enjoyed this outfit. Personally, I can't wait to pack away my tights and thick socks, sweaters and wooly jackets. I want light and airy dresses, easy skirts, and breezy windbreakers.

Anyway, last week I found myself on Newbury Street (in search of a wayward W-2 form) and stopped into Madewell. There is something irresistible about a perfect t-shirt, I think it's the comfort factor. I picked up two of these in rose and a rusty brick color (you can see it here in a really bad picture of my face) and have been wearing them non-stop. I liked how the casual tshirt looked with the floral skirt, and of course I just had to find a way to incorporate my new Garren heels. I can't wait for it to really warm up to wear these cork beauties with long dresses and skirts! Is there something you're looking forward to wearing in the coming season? Something special you've been saving?

Stay tuned for your chance to win a pair of Garren's of your very own!

I'm in love with florals that looks great. I'm looking forward to pulling off major neon, massive wide leg trousers and maybe a few fedoras this spring/summer. Lovely post.

Beautifully put together outfit and stunning heels! ♥

I can't wait to get back to my more flimsy dresses and have my eyes on new sandals :)

Wonderful outfit. I just love your skirt.

I love this outfit, but I have a question. I recently picked up a pair of over-the-knee socks and I have no idea how to wear them. Clearly this is a huge dilemma. Any ideas?

Yesss I can not wait to wear this floral print maxi skirt I thrifted earlier in the year. (Is it a bad thng when the lady cashing me out at Salvation army tells me the it reminded her of me and she's so happy I grabbed it?!) Anyway I'm not sure I'm crazy about the orangey leather with the cork, but overal I like the style of the shoe and you make it work so well!

that madewell tee looks so comfortable! i love the color too.
that skirt was a phenomenal thrift find! i had a lengthy chat with boston blogger Lei Ann about thrifting - i've never really done it before, but i'm convinced that i need to try it out and get some treasures.

I bought a pair of wide leg jeans that will go great with high heels. I'm saving them for spring because I can't wear heels in all this snow!

Looking forward to wear all my heels and shorts and tuck my coats and wool sweaters away.

Very feminine look, by the way!

Wonderful outfit. Perfect outfit transition because the colors are so fall/winter but the style is so springly!

I especially love your shoes and how you paired them with knee highs. =)

I think I'm looking forward to long dresses and long hair. =)

Too bad about the weather! I keep thinking to myself that now its March I should be able to bust out all of my warm weather clothes, but alas!

I am in love this outfit! :) Its simple but very pretty and I love the color of your socks. I have a pair of legwarmers that color but it's unfortunately not the same...

Gorgeous outfit! It actually really inspires me for Fall :)

I used a pic of you from your blog in a post I did yesterday (and linked it back here, of course) – I hope this is ok? If not, just let me know :)

I am looking forward to wearing tights and socks for the next season! But I won't put away my summer dresses too soon :)

my first thought was 'that is a lovely spring outfit' and then I read your poor tale of coldness! I hate it when that happens... Its rubbish when the weather just won't cooperate with what you want to wear!

The tribute tees are insanely comfortable! I have the 2 colors you do, as well as a pale blue and I'm planning on getting the dark grey too. I wear mine all the time! I love how you paired yours in this outfit, picking up on the colors in the skirt.

you look so springy! currently, it's 35 degrees, windy and cold raining in Rochester, NY, so i'm jealous. even if you did turn right back around to put wool tights and boots on.

julie,

i love your hair's "grown out highlights" look! i think my natural color is the same as yours and you give me courage as i'm trying to grow out my highlights. i've been doing them for 10+ years and it's so expensive and i'm just ready for something new. but it's a hard transition... i miss the brightness! what made you decide to grow yours out? was it a conscious decision? just curious about your thoughts. :)

best,
tracy

Totally agree about perfect tee shirts. Even though I've been blogging for over a year and wearing pretty dresses and stuff, I can't resist a good tee-shirt...especially a v-neck. I'm such a sucker for them.

Love the outfit, and the skirt has the best print! Hopefully spring will be headed your way sooooon.
