Necklaces: Black Sparrow and H&M
Shoes: Forever 21 ($13)
This dress from Lulu's has been burning a hole in my proverbial pocket for about a month now, why can't spring come sooner? The weather for the past few days has been beyond miserable, it snowed all day yesterday, and is just gloomy today. I am pining for the days where I can wear a simple dress and sandals, until then however I have to find more creative ways of covering up. This vintage crop top is one of my favorite items of clothing, it definitely is underutilized in my closet. I liked how it looked with the sheer pleats of my dress. I have to say, I'm completely convinced by maxi and midi dresses lately. If you find the right length they can even make shorter girls look tall (think Rachel Zoe), and I like how I'm getting some length variety in my closet. Not just all minis now. How do you feel about maxi dresses? Love them? Hate them?
I went with simple accessories (excuse the lint- our apartment is static hell):

Lovely outfit! Your dress, top and necklaces are all so perfect x
You're definitely rocking the maxi length here. And your hair is doing amazing things in these shots. I'm into the longer length that's going on these days. You're right, I think it can create a longer/leaner line even on shorter girls. Maybe the trick is to keep the waist line high as you did, and add a extra height with some heels or wedges.

i love the longer lengths!! i'm still trying to figure out the best way to make them work for me, but i think it's a nice change ya know? and this dress is totally gorgeous on you!!!!! so love the pleats :)
i have always loved the longer lengths...now i am just excited that there are so many different options! love this pleated look on you.

i love maxi's but always find them dragging on the ground when i wear them! they look well on tall people though!

Wow, gorgeous outfit! I'm still undecided on maxi dresses. I need to try a few more out before I make up my mind.
Love it!! I was especially fascinated by the city skyline on the shirt. And you always have cool jewelry! I'm a Big fan of different, out there jewelry.
Agree with Samantha—hate that maxis can drag. I just dug out my fave maxi to pack for vacation. The ground in Maimi isn't covered with salt, mud, or water—yay!
Glad you got a chance to wear this—it's lovely.

one of my favorite outfits by you! i adore that skirt, it is gorgeous and the shirt is so cutesy!

This is fantastic! I love the shirt...the skirt...everything!
I know exactly what you mean! I'm just going to have to start wearing all the stuff I have ready for spring if it just doesn't start already!
This looks amazing by the way : )

I used to shun maxi dresses like the fashion plague...thought they'd make me look dumpy and short since I'm only 5'2"...but I recently discovered that they don't! They make me look long and tall, as long as I've got the right one :) Love them because they are so comfy and easy to wear.

I'm loving and embracing maxi dresses and skirts. I actually did my first outfit post evuh yesterday and I wore a maxi skirt. You could check it out and give me some feedback, hm? :)
This outfit is great, I love black with that shade of blue. I'm also pretty sure I'll need to own that Lulu's dress.

This dress is so cute and it looks fabulous on you! I never thought that I could wear maxi dresses given my height, but I tried some last summer and realized that it's all about being creative and keeping proportions in line. You look great!
I love maxi skirts/dresses, but I didn't think anyone could really pull of a pleated one without looking frumpy or huge. You've definitely proved me wrong! And like you, I'm dying for the spring!!
i love that top! and the sheer dress with the opaque underlay is really pretty.
I love maxi dresses. I sewed one for myself last summer and I want to make more.
i really love your outfit- especially the tee , it has such a nice print on it and the colour so cheerful!
but maxi skirts really dont work for me- at least for everyday situations!
I'm not sure if I can pull off a maxi dress! But I love love love them on other people they just make me wish for longer legs:) hahaha you look super adorable. and i have to say that I covet the crap out of those necklaces!
You look wonderful, as always, I die for those shoes ...
Wonderful outfit! You look beautiful. :)
And I absolutely love maxi dresses and skirts.
Gorgeous outfit. I was writing abut maxi dresses the other day actually. I didn't used to be a fan, but now I love them ad I love how you've styled it here.

i haven't found the perfect one yet, but i am not giving up! this look is really nice on you.
I dig the maxi dresses and you look stunning in this one! I think the pleats make it great!
i feel like i've been looking for a skirt like that forever with no luck. :(
I adore your blog :) you're style is inspiring, missy!
Ah!!! I love this so so much!! The jewelry by far is my favorite part, but the top and dress are just perfect together.
im loving the maxi dress here, and the gold accessories are killer.
lately i've been loving maxi or mid skirts! i find that they look best with heels (but i'm short, so that's probably why...)
LOVE this outfit. and your necklaces are amazing.

Such a great look!!
love the skirt!

v. cute blouse! i like how you paired it.
i like maxi dresses. i am short (five foot) and my only complaint is that i can't buy ones with details at the bottom/hem because i always have to cut them off. i love how effortless they are, how cool they are in summer, and how i can sit on the ground and gather them in my lap so no one can see my bits as they otherwise would in a skirt!

I love maxi dresses on tall girls... I wish I could wear them! I have one and I use it for a beach/pool coverup. I'm ready for spring too!
awesome outfit! love the necklaces too
ooh i love this outfit! the necklaces are definitely epic. i'm a big fan of maxis and midis lately. they are certainly much easier to wear - in terms of grabbing and going! - than minis. if for no other reason than you don't have to be as careful with the leg shaving!
Your hair looks amazing... as always.
Maxis and midis are warming up to me but I have yet to wear one. This one looks great on you. I like the sheerness of it and the pleats. Speaking of, I actually purchased an awesome pleated polka dot midi from a thrift store this past weekend.
I love this outfit! You look great, as usual. I really need to find a good maxi skirt to try. ASAP
I absolutely love maxi dresses and skirts. They have been my obsession for a little while now.
I'm looking forward to the warmer seasons so that I can wear them all the time! Ha. (:
You look lovely.
Lovely pleated maxi dress and on that note I say YES to maxi dresses! =)

You look great! I love a good maxi dress now and then. It always makes me feel like an elegant lady.
I've just started to experiment with maxi dresses and skirt and to my surprise I absolutely love them! :D Even if I'm short!

I'm all about maxi dresses - even on short girls like me. I've been looking for one every time I go thrifting, but no luck yet. That top is beautiful.
Love this shoot. The background color is great!
That top is seriously awesome! You look great and absolutely big yes to the maxi. For some reason I find maxi skirts much easier to pull of than maxi dresses. Most of the dresses I have seem rather bare on the top and if you have any sort of chest, well there it is, on display. I have a great maxi skirt that I'm dying to style but it's been raining far too much in these parts for a coral silk maxi skirt!! Thanks for the inspiration though, I might have to break it out soon!
I love how this dress elongates your silhouette and makes you look statuesque. You look absolutely flawless in these photos.
Woah! Love the skirt/dress. I wish i could pull off the maxi. Looks awesome on you though!
