Yay, it's fall!

Dress: Thrifted from charity shop in Maine (.50 c)
Belt: Thrift gift from Mom from same shop
Sweater: Thrifted H&M ($5)
Scarf: Mom's vintage
Orange tights: TjMaxx ($4)
Flats: UO ($28)
Yes, you read that right! This dress cost me fifty cents, making it the cheapest thing in my wardrobe that wasn't free. I love it and it's actually been something I've been wearing all summer. Something was keeping me from posting about it though, and yesterday I realized what: it had more potential! It needed layers! Last night I met up with friends for sushi and our weekly bar trivia match, the weather was actually a little chilly so I took advantage and layered. Somehow this outfit works, and I think it's because there are equal elements of the two main colors: brown tones and black. Its funny because before I started blogging I would have died before pairing black with brown, or blue and black, or all ove the above, and now they're some of my favorite combinations.

So, who's stoked it's the weekend? I am! I decided earlier this week that I'm not attending the Fashion Week festivities, so i have the whole weekend to relax. Those of you who are attending IFB and Chictopia, have a great time! Oh! and don't forget to enter the Noble Town Vintage giveaway!
Happy Weekend!

Those tights are fantastic with that outfit. Seriously love this. yay for fall!!!
Love this dress! I'm a sucker for floral dresses. I have one kind of like this in my wardrobe from a thrift store, I think it was a dollar.
Have a wonderful, relaxing weekend :)
Gorgeous! I love the dress layered like that. I used to have a problem with certain colour combinations as well but now like you I really adore navy and black together. Especially pairing a nice navy silk blouse with a black leather jacket. Hope you're weekend is lovely too!

bloo.
So, I'm always ecstatic when I see someone with the same vintage treasure as me. It's like a, "wow, what are the chances," type of thing. & it's always exciting to see how that person rocked the same thing. Well, I said all that to say, I have the same dress! I love the way you styled it.

I know what you mean when you talk about wearing black and brown and black and blue together. I was so against black and brown together, and over the last 6 months its become one of my favorite combos. Like black jeans, grey top and all brown accessories, brown belt, shoes and purse. I LOVE your tights, I think only you can pull them off, and you do it so well! You got my back into scarfs, Im bringing like 8 with me to Boston! Im so excited its not going to be hot! Adorable flats too! Xo!
While growing up I've been told not to pair black and brown or navy and black. And I kind of sticked to this rule until recentely...I'm not sure about black and brown (still have to find the right combo for me) but I do love navy and black now!
You look adorable in that dress! And I love how you put all those colors together; looks really nice!

Oh, tights. Sigh. It's still very much summer here in Texas, and I have a new green velvet military-style jacket that wants me to pair it with some tights. I'm living vicariously through you in until November, when it finally gets cold down here.
i absolutely love the pattern mixing and the rusty color of those tights. hooray that fall is finally here!!
gorgeous photos!
Great mixing of blacks and browns and including those bright tights! Really like this look! -Angela
I'm coming to Boston for a long weekend with the one purpose to hunt thirft and flea markets for new clothing pieces and wedding stuff. Your the queen of Boston thrifting got any suggests for places to hit?
Erica,
So I just wrote out this whole thing about where to go thrifting on your blog, and it didn't post! ach! I tend to stick to the 'burbs and NH/ME for my thrifting, but check out Davis Square in Somerville (accessible on the red line) and Boomerangs in Allston. On Sunday, head north to Rowley EARLY and catch the Todd Farm flea market, it's awesome!

I would wear them with everything! they are great I love the versatility
You are so lovely! I've always liked your style, but something about these photos is extra-captivating. I love the mix of patterns, too.
Jillian,
Thank you so much, such a kind comment!

This is honestly one of my favourites of yours. I agree that the black and brown (though I'd think of it more as rust) are well balanced and of course your gorgeous mane of hair tops it off perfectly. It seems that you really do thrive in fall; I'm looking forward to what's to come!
Very beautiful , that color of tights looks super great here and i love how you matched the scarf.
Such a gorgeous little dress
I heart this outfit. I can't decide which part is my favorite- the awesome thrifted dress, the pattern mixing, or the color coordination of the tights and scarf. I think I'll go w all of it!
Same here on the brown/black mixing. Blogging has made me get over things like that, for which I'm very grateful. So many more opportunities for mixing up things now!
Confirmation on the wonders of finding fabulous >$1.00 dresses at resale shops. I found my favorite little guy at a thrift store for 88 cents. Has a corset-y upper back, too! =)
