It's giveaway time! The rad people from Fred Flare are offering one lucky winner a pair of the always popular Carrie sunglasses! I bought mine when I visited the store in Brooklyn back in February and I absolutely LOVE them! To enter, visit Fred Flare and leave me a comment telling me about a favorite summer-time memory or what it is you're looking forward to doing this summer. The giveaway runs until Saturday June 5th 12am est. I will choose the winner this weekend! Be sure to leave an email address if you do not have a blog of your own!

Good Luck!

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 218 Newer› Newest»Those are totally fabulous! They'd be perfect for my planned summer of poolside lounging ;)
My favorite summer memories are from the summers spent on my grandparents farm. Running through sprinklers, getting lost in the orchard, plums from the tree and berries from the bush...
My favorite summer memory is my brothers birthday when I was about 6, we had a compettion to see how many people we could fit on our trampline. We had 8 adults and 4 kids all bouncing around, It's one of my favoite memories, I can remember the smell of cake and candles in the dark. My friend is coming on holiday with me this summer, and I've arranged to meet a lovely blogger! I can't wait!

This summer, I plan on a lot of tubing in Oregon rivers, and bonfires on the coast. Vive l'ete!
I'm going to spend this summer going to art shows with my husband. And since we live close to the beach, I'm sure I will find some time to boogie board and have some fun in the sun. Oh, and with these Fred Flare sunnies, I will look cute while doing so!!

Hi Julie!
This summer I am looking forward to moving across the country. I am leaving VA and going for a huge change of scenery and moving to Portland, OR. I've never been there before. I can't wait!!
I would love these sunglasses to give to my bff for her bday. <3
-Leigh
im not sure if its open to international readers,, but if it is..
im from australia :) and my favourite things about our summers is a day at the beach with friends, eating icecream and fish and chips at Victor Harbour.. followed by a late night party; its still so warm that you can wear a light dress and the skies are so clear all the stars are visible. plus a cold fruit punch suits this weather very well :)
have a good weekkend :) xx
hannah.rose.p(at)gmail.com
my fav summer memory is a couple of yrs ago when i went to the beach with my mom and siblings..we had such an amazing time and it was a fun day..i love these sunglasses and fred flare sells amazing stuff..the food earrings are amazing.
daddyfirt@yahoo.com
i love these sunglasses!
my favorite summer memories usually always include traveling to see my grandma. she lived right smack in the middle of nebraska in a town of 300 people. there was a park in the middle of the town with a very steep, very old, very dangerous metal slide. :)

My favorite memory was probably when I was about 5 years old. I was running around in my grandma's yard in the pouring rain for hours just wearing a bathing suit. I picked her a bouquet of dandelions. I's love to do it again!
This is literally the perfect giveaway because I have been meaning to buy these, they are just perfect!
My favorite summertime memory dates back to the summer of 2006, when I met my current boyfriend (in June)! We have been together for almost 4 years! I also went to Japan that summer which was almost as amazing.
This summer I will be doing nothing but taking class, woo!

oh, I love these! My absolute favorite summertime memory is the summer I took a roadtrip with 3 wonderful friends to Bonnaroo. It was my first overnight festival experience, and I gorged on falafel, stayed up until 5am watching My Morning Jacket, and smelled pretty bad the whole time - totally worth it.
One of my favorite summertime memories is a trip some friends and I took to my aunt's lake cabin in Minnesota. The weekend was full of trampolines, saunas, and general shenanigans.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I'll be going to Honduras for one month this summer. I'm going with a organization and we'll be doing a medical clinic where there will be doctors and free medicine to the people who are sick. I am so excited to be doing this. At 17, there's nothing I want to do more than help people and this really is a wonderful way to be doing so! I'm really looking forward to an awesome summer.
Oh! Dear goodness, I'd like to win me some old-fashioned contest!
ALRIGHT.
Fave summer memory you ask?
Oh yes. The summer I "BECAME A WOMAN".
The days were getting longer, and so were the duration of my mood swings.
Menstruation had begun.
Love these glasses! I am looking forward to wedding planning this summer because I just got engaged!
^ oh and my email:
urooba_flowergirl@hotmail.com.
MY STORY IS THE PERIOD STORY, fyi!
Love the sunglasses!
My favorite memory of summer would have to be when I would visit my grandparents in Florence, Oregon. We'd go to the beach, go for walks in the woods and just enjoy each other's company.
I am excited to do nothing. We have (partial) season tickets for Tigers baseball, so my husband and I will be at TONS of games, but no other plans!
I love those sunglasses!
A favorite summertime memory of mine was a few years ago when I studied abroad in Germany...I made a lot of new friends, got to experience a new culture and totally new experiences, and got to spend some quality time with my twin brother. I think about that trip just about everyday.

Love the shades... I would wear them every day, with everything! As a fellow New Englander, hopefully you'll understand just what this memory's about... :)
A few summers ago, my then boyfriend (now husband) and I went with some good friends to stay on a farm in Martha's Vineyard. It was my first time there -- I'm originally from PA -- and I was totally enchanted by the place. We spent the day skinny dipping in the sun (the farm belonged to house-sitters for a wealthy family, so it was a private beach!), and after riding into town in the back of a dusty pick-up and buying fresh fish, clams, and mussels, we grilled and ate out under the stars, drinking wine and singing folk songs.
A perfect New England summer moment.

Fabulous glasses!
My favourite summer memory thus far was snoozing, reading, and enjoying gelato in the park with friends by the Leaning tower, baptistry and duomo in Pisa. The perfect day.
As for this summer? I'm looking forward to discovering a new city and starting a new job
My favorite summer memory was being 7 and riding bikes and hanging out in a ditch pretending it was a fort. Me and the other neighborhood kids would crawl through peoples back yards like spies and end up all muddy and scratched up. I was quite the tomboy and daredevil then, I miss being so free like that!
I love your blog Julie, it is one of my favorites, your gorgeous!!
morganneelizabeth@gmail.com :)
Oh my goodness! They are definitely perfect...I've loved seeing yours! Thanks, Fred Flare!
My favorite summertime memory is boating in Lake Michigan! We were lucky to have quite a large boat (27 feet!) with a cabin growing up, and this one day was so perfect. The lake looked just like the Carribean! And, I also love watching fireworks from our boat now! It's not as big, but it does just fine for me and my hubs :)

My favorite summertime memory is actually from this year. I went to a Cage the Elephant concert and the venue was right across from the beach so after the show, some of us went over there with Matt, the lead singer, and we built sand-animals and had a mini concert on the beach. It was amazing!
And those sunglasses are amazing!

My favorite summer memory has to be last summer when my boyfriend and I decided to visit as many West Coast National Parks and other wild places as we could. We spent the summer camping and traveling through Washington, Oregon, California, and Montana. Cooking only by campfire, living in a tent, and seeing some of the most beautiful places in the world with my love was an amazing adventure that I will never forget (and a great break from city life!)

oooh i've had my eye on those glasses for awhile! this summer i am looking forward to doing absolutely nothing, with a bit of reading on the side.

My favorite summertime memory will be repeated MANY times this summer too... my boyfriend has a sailboat, but no car, so we PULL the boat down the streets of Minneapolis from his house to the closest lake (luckily only like 10? blocks)... see here for ridiculous photo evidence of me waiting at a stop light pulling a boat with my friend JRod

I love those sunglasses!
My favorite summertime memory is basically ANYTHING from last summer. Right after graduation, some friends and I went on a cruise in the Caribbean and it was such a blast that we had 'cruise reunions' once a week for the rest of the summer! One night, we had all the boys cook for us girls, and the meal was surprisingly impressive :)
This summer, I'm looking forward to moving to Austin, Texas! And this sunnies will be perfect for the bright Austin sun!
These are fabulous!
I'm looking forward to visiting Samoa later this month; these sunglasses would perfectly suit my adventures!
I am really looking forward to sunshine days where my friends and I could boogie board at the beach =)
One of my favorite summer-time memories is actually from last summer. My boyfriend at the time and I rented a house in North Carolina with one of my college housemates and her boyfriend. We spent the week going to the beach, grilling, exploring the town and we even played games like apples to apples at night. I wish we were going back this summer!
All summer time memories are wonderful but I am especially looking forward to this summer! I am going to Chicago for 2 weeks to shop, shop, shop and take some much needed relaxation time. Plus I get to visit with my cousins!

Me too!! I love, love, love Fred Flare! I could spend hours just gazing at all the wonderful stuff they have.
This summer I am looking forward to spending some time in the sun. I live right next to the beach and have decided I should take advantage of it and go get myself a nice tan.
Those are such great glasses! They'd be wonderful for summer road trips! My favorite summer memories involve lots of berry picking and working at a summer theatre in my teens.
This summer I'm going to an island in the San Juans to be a counselor at a summer camp! These sunglasses would be peeerfect ;)

One of my fav summer memories was last summer when I went down to San Diego with some friends and my sis. So we were dorky and went to Comicon, but the funnest part of that weekend was actually visiting the maritime museum and wandering around old boats and subs. Then we got some carne asada fries at Super Sergios, which is where I always go any time I visit SD. And then trying to talk about anything to keep my friend awake on the drive back to LA.
Oo I love Fred Flare!
My favorite summer time activity is canoeing on the local lake, and then roasting marshmallows over an open fire under the stars! I'm looking forward to doing this quite a few times this summer! :)
I'm really looking forward to knitting some more socks and sewing some more clothes! I never seem to be able to get around to projects while I'm in school!

Hi Julie! Loove this giveaway, I'd wear these all summer! My favorite summer memory is with my best friend Bri. We went to the drive in to see Finding Nemo I think, and took my parents huge conversion van to park. We sat on the roof of it way high above everyone else and totally pigged out on every single thing sold in that concession store. haha it was a fat day for sure, but it's one of my funniest (word?) summer memories I'll never forget :)
Thanks for a chance to win!

Those are absolutely gorgeous! They'd be amazing to slightly modernize a sort of 50's-esque outfit.
It's hard to choose a favorite summer time memory, but I think mine is probably visiting London when I was eight. We were there with my oma and opa (grandparents in German) and although I was too young to shop in a lot of the awesome places, but I do remember seeing a lot of crazy outfits, beautiful architecture, hearing sexy accents, and learning more about European Middle Ages history (I was OBSESSED with the black plague and torture :/ )
I
Most looking forward to:
A) outdoor live music in the summer sun
B) swimming in the summer sun
C) catching up with friends & family in the summer sun
D) riding my bike in the summer sun
E) picnics in the summer sun
F) wearing fred flare sunglasses to block out some of that summer sun
Those glasses are awesome! My favorite summer memory...probably gathering a ton of friends, cramming them all into my tiny little Honda, making a brief pit-stop at a grocery store for snacks and then camping out on a beach all day! Eating sugar cookies, alternating between shady grass and sunny beach, slushees...nothing beats summer. :)
These sunglasses are gorgeous Julie!! My favorite summertime memory is running up and down my block chasing after the ice cream man!

My favorite summer memory? Picnics! I love everything about them: finger foods, blankets, the all-important basket, gathering friends by the lake and eating, drinking, laughing 'till the sun goes down! Hooray for summer!
Love the glasses! I've always admired how funky and cute the stuff at FF is.
When I think of summer, I think of sleepaway camp - late-night bonfires, horseback riding, hiking, care packages, giggly Truth or Dare games. Aw, I wanna be a kid again.
blytheleatherman@gmail.com
Definitely outdoor concerts! THey're my fave!! And some sunglasses would be perfect! :)
I'm super excited because this summer, I am going to South Dakota for a week with my fiance and his family. I've never really been anywhere (except Disneyland once), so I'm really excited! My favorite summer memory had to be going to Outer Banks for the first time with my best friend and staying in a huge house on the beach. It's so much different than the New Jersey shore, I just love it.
Fred Flare is such an awesome store! I've wanted to purchase those sunnnies for a while but they've been out of stock :(
My favorite summer memory is of the summer after I graduated high school. I felt like I had reached a turning point in my life. I spent most of the summer getting to know the city I live in a little better. I spent several different days just roaming around with my best friend and we found many places we had never even seen before! It was quite the experience considering we were born and raised in this city. When I look back now, I feel like I not only got better acquainted with my city but with myself as well. I grew up a lot that summer and and got to enjoy so many little things that I would have normally just passed by; it is one I will never forget.

Gorgeous glasses! My favorite summertime memory--that's a hard one! Maybe the summer I taught English in a Hungarian village in the Romanian countryside, and it was a tiny village with four streets and 150 people and whenever gypsies came through the town, they'd stare at me and touch me because I think they had never seen a Chinese girl who could speak English (or maybe they had just never seen a chinese girl,) and my host mother would bring a block of lard to my room every morning and I'd try to choke it down. It was a wonderful summer.
xo Jenny
Funky sunglasses!

First of all, tortoise shell glasses are forever chic, so these instantly became an addition to my fashion wishlist.
My plans for this summer:
On June 12th, I will be moving to a place I've never even been before-- El Paso, Texas. I'm moving from a little town in Florida, and Heaven knows what I'll think of my new home. As I go through this transition, I want to look my best...Feel my best. Saying goodbye to my friends has been so tough, but I'm looking forward to a new life.
And since I'm going to one of the sunniest places in the US, what better accessory (besides a hat or sunscreen) would be better to win than sunglasses?!
Blithe

This is going to be my first summer living in New York City, as well as the first summer that my boyfriend and I will be in the same place basically the whole time. I really love it here in the summer, and can't wait to take advantage of all the amazing (many of which are free!) things to do here.

Adorable. I love them.
I'm planning on going on a road trip this summer! Chicago to Denver to go to a conference and visit friends. Can't wait!
My favorite summer was the one right after I graduated college. My husband's job didn't start until mid-June and I had not prospects at the time, so we got to spend a month in this perfect college student/adult limbo. It was glorious!
My favorite summer memories have always been my travels. One summer my boyfriend and I went on a very random road trip to Missouri, stopping at bizarre roadside attractions along the way. Last summer I went to Rock City in Tennessee with a couple friends for a wedding and made one of my favorite long weekends of it. This summer I'm hoping my boyfriend and I can visit friends in Chicago, Colorado, and Atlanta before he moves away to finish school in the fall :( He knows I'm addicted to sunglasses and always pack at least 2 or 3 pairs. These are a fun twist on some classics and I love how they look.
My favorite summer was last summer. I went to Finland for a month and spent every night in the sauna for two hours, followed by a quick swim in the frozen arctic-circle lake, followed by another hour in the sauna. And when I came back, my boyfriend and I took a million picnics the fields of Tennessee- and I wore a princess dress.
I kind of put out my whole summer, but I count it as one giant memory.
PS- I am lusting after those glasses like a certain Mr. Hugh lusts after plastic boobs and blond hair.
love, rudi
Oh, I love the glasses, and I've totally been coveting their Hello Kitty wallet for a while.
My favorite summer memories are traveling around Spain in the summer of 2005 and doing things with my honey: visiting Niagara Falls, NYC, going to a cabin with his family in Ontario, etc.

One of my favorite summer memories was getting my cast taken off! I broke my arm the week before my birthday in May and had to wear the cast until July. Getting rid of that thing was truly the start of summer that year! Plus I got to indulge my inner scientist by studying the skinny (and oddly hairy) arm that was revealed...

Skinny dipping in a secret mountain lake with one of my best friends. The cold water took my breath away and I was frightened of the salamanders. Hiking down again. Getting black bean burgers at my favorite 50s diner afterward.

I am so looking forward to starting my summer this very weekend! First it's Houston's Summerfest Festival and the very next weekend... Bonnaroo! After that, it's going to be several (very hot) camping sessions that I am looking forward to.

My favorite summer memory is eating watermelon and spitting the seeds into the grass in our backyard. This was of course, after a big meal of some kind of barbequed foods.
My favorite summmer times were spent in Finland, relaxing by the numerous lakes...wish I could be there now!

My favorite summer time memory? Gonna have to dig through the ol' dome piece here to find that gem...
While other kids were outside playing, enjoying their vacation from school, my brother and I were forced to stay inside and work on "school work" that my mom gave us. We weren't allowed to go outside and play, or do the normal summer activities until we had finished our work.
So, when I broke my leg on a slip'n'slide (yes, a slip'n'slide!) I was both painfully disappointed and ecstatic. Could this mean I would FINALLY get the summer off? Yes, in fact I saved myself AND my brother from a torturous summer of homework. It was nice to be waited on hand and foot, let me tell you. I watched movies, ate chocolate, and read my friends collection of early 90's Seventeen magazine. Orange was SO in!!
My favorite (albeit kind of terrible) summer memory is when I went to Colorado last year to visit my aunt, uncle and cousins. We went up to the top of the Rocky Mountains and parked at the highest point you could park at. Then we started to walk up to the very top up these crazy narrow and uneven steps. Halfway up, it started to snow, which I thought was cool since I'm from Texas but then it turned into a blizzard and by the time we were at the top, our faces were frozen and we couldn't see a thing! It went from 60 degrees to below 30 on our climb up the mountain. I thought I was going to die but it has since become a great memory for me as well as a great story to tell!

What I am looking forward to this summer? Getting a new camera! And I can't wait to run around everywhere snapping fabulous photos! :D
I'm looking forward to an old fashioned ROAD TRIP! We're packing up the pooch and the car to visit Yellowstone and Glacier National Park.....ugh, I can't WAIT!
my favorite summer memory is when i was 5 i would "help" my dad mow the lawn in my osh gosh short-alls. i would help him push the lawn mower, since, you know, he clearly couldnt do it all by himself. afterwards, my twin and i would lay in the freshly mowed grass and look at the clouds. this is why the smell of newly cut grass is one of my favorite summertime scents.
thanks for posting as always :)

One of my favorite summer memories was the discovery of my younger sister's alter ego ("Toby") on a family driving vacation to Las Vegas. We now blame all of her bad manners and aggresive behavior on the basketball court on Toby. :)

Thank you!
I'm looking forward to college. I'll be starting college at the University of South Florida in a few weeks, and I'm so nervous, but so excited. I know it's gonna be the best years of my life, and I can't for it to start.
this summer I'm planning to go to my friend's house, which is in the middle of a wood, near the sea, in south Sardinia. It's an adorable, savage place: a little house painted in green and lilac, with the shower outside (big fun when it's cool)and a lot of cats who live in the neighbourhood. I love that place, it's magic for me. I've been there so many times since I was a little girl, but it neve makes me bored...
One of my favorite memories is when my Dad taught me to ride a bike. We went to the baseball field across from my house and I learned to ride with a push. I don't really remember learning but I remember laughing and how great I felt to be riding on my own. I also remember telling him not to let go though he already had minutes ago! It was a great time!
Great sunnies! Fred Flare rocks!
This summer, I'm looking forward to exploring Kansas City, even though I've lived here since I was a kid.

Great giveaway.
So... good luck to all, if only one will win! :)
Have a nice day!
My favorite summer memories are all the amazing bands i have seen over the years. Summer is a great time to go see as many shows as possible. Music and summer go hand in hand!
The sunglasses are so fun!!
my favorite summertime memory is playing with my sister in our huge backyard, climbing trees, running through sprinklers, surprise hose attacks from my mom, and feeding our golden lab otter pops and coke straight from the can.
thanks for encouraging us all to relive these memories!!

This Summer.....I am leaving my nest in the Midwest and moving to Seattle. It's so exciting and scary at the same time. I'm looking forward to starting a fashion art blog of my own very soon, inspired by all the creative blogs I follow every week including yours.

my favorite summer time memory is not just a moment or a day, but just the era of life when I had summers free of responsibility. lots of driving around in friends' cars... staying outside late in the warm, humid nights... adventure, rebellion, and carefree fun. amazing days, and I'm glad I had them!
One of the memories that I've been thinking about a lot lately is this one time when I was about 5 or6 and there was this huge storm. My family and I were sitting out on the front porch watching it rain, and the droplets were coming down so hard that they splashed so much it looked like it was raining up. But it was a warm rain.
Sunglasses aren't practical for a rainstorm, but these are lovely nonetheless.
oh yes please! they're awesome!
oh heavens, i'm in love with those shades! ;)
one of my favourite childhood summer memories: waking up early, throwing on a sundress, and playing outside all day long in the california sunshine, sitting on the curb eating popsicles, chasing boys, riding my bike, getting dirty, running home when the street lights came on, and playing on the driveway while my parents watched and chatted with the neighbors as the sun went down. mmm, i loved those days. :) summer days were exhausting, in a good way... i never stopped and practically lived outside!
Aw, the shade are pretty :]
I'm really looking forward to the array of fruits I'm going to get to eat during the summer!
this is my last summer before college (woo-hoo!) so i'm tooootally looking forward to hanging out with my friends every day, going to concerts, road trips, grad parties... and opera camp. haha. only me. =)
Can't wait to go out to San Francisco for 2 weeks this summer. That city makes me so happy. I can take off by foot in the morning and just get lost, wandering through neighborhoods, walking along the bay and soaking up the sun.
my favorite summer memory was making a slip n slide out of heavy duty black trash bags. My brothers and I cut upen the bags and nailed them to the grass with several screwdrivers. we then poured dish soap on the bags to make the slide extra slippery and bubbly. The dish detergent burned my eyes but it was such a fun memory!! Good times! :)
Super cute shades!
This summer I am most looking forward to evening bike rides and summertime thunderstorms.
love your blog! and your septum! this summer im planning on lots of road trips to portland and seattle, san francisco next week and denver in august. wanderlust rules my life.

for 3 years I have been looking forward to a second canoe trip with a few of my friends in Algonquin Park, ON. we went to camp together as kids and have tried to continue the tradition! And I am in need of some new fab sunglasses to bring with me!
Ahh I love big sunglasses! These are great. This summer I am going to a soccer/beach camp with my really good friend in Cape Cod! I can't wait and I am definitely looking forward to it. (Sorry I had to post twice, I forgot the summer part of it).

a favorite summer time memory of mine was when I snuck out of my home in daylight to hang out with this cute guy. We sat in the park to talk, went to thrift stores, had some coffee at a cafe. I came home with my mom grounding me. Later that night she left and I went back out to see him under a tree near my home and we sat and kissed. We've been together for 11 monthes and still going.
how sweet! I'm looking forward to evenings on patios with good friends and pitchers of sangria! thanks for the chance to enter, I need some new shades :)
Those glasses are fab! I am so looking forward to spending some extra time with my 8 years old daughter. Will be taking her to museums, shopping and nature excursions!
EEK, I think mine went through before I finished it!
My favorite summer tradition is going to the beach. I know its cliched, but I never went to the beach growing up and my favorite thing is to lay out with my friends and maybe have some spiked lemonade!
I LOVE those sunglasses, so fantastic.
This summer I am looking forward to a trip to Utah! I live in Florida, but my best friend from high school goes to school in Utah, so I will be visiting her and helping her drive and move back for the summer. I'm very excited, I love her so much and I really need to get away for a bit :)
Love the blog!

I love these glasses!!
This summer I am beyond excited for a family vacation in honor of my grandparents 60th anniversary. I know family time isn't every 24-year-old's dream come true, but there is nothing I love more than getting away from every little worry and just having fun with people you love!
i plan on lounging at the beach for a few weeks this summer and catching up on all my reading.
i love these glasses!

I love those sunglasses! My favorite summer memory is definitely the camping trip I went on last summer with some of my very best friends! It was one of the best times ever!
I loved these sunglasses the second I saw you wearing them! I am beyond excited to just be at home and relax, stress-free away from my busy college schedule. There will definitely be lots of beach camping, backpacking, rock climbing, bonfires, and of course--shopping! Haha. Thanks for the great give away!

My favorite memory is riding my bike to the farmer's market to pick up some fruits and veggies for breakfast. You come across the friendliest people early in the morning. I'm moving to Portland, Oregon (this Saturday!!) and I'm looking forward to a summer of biking to farmer's markets.
sorry! my email is smlee29@gmail.com
I can't wait to sneak out my window and land 15 feet below so I can go to the park and look at the stars with my baby.
I've been in SE Asia for the past four months (mostly Vietnam with a 10 day stint in Cambodia), so I'm excited to go home and do some more shopping for my new house! Although the prices here are pretty nice on the wallet.

I am looking forward to eating hundreds of ice creams, long clear evenings and sunny days in the country snapping pictures of everything that inspires me.
My favorite summer memory is going on picnics in the Botanic Gardens... a summer tradition I plan on resurrecting this year! ;)

I'm lucky that, growing up, everyone in my family was a major shutterbug, so I have access to a virtual history of my life over the years. I inherited this interest in photography, but have stuck pretty much to "traditional" cameras. I've been lusting for a Diana camera, and until I took a look just now at the Fred Flare web site, didn't know that they carried the mini Diana camera. Hmmmm. So this post is less about summer memories of the past and more about the future memories that I may be able to capture if I take the Diana plunge.
Thanks for the giveaway!

My favorite summertime memory is being at our local town pool after morning swim practice and hanging there for the entire day. The sun, the pool, and my friends all made for perfect summer days. Thanks! (zacademic@gmail.com)

My favorite summer memory was this one day/night around July 4 - chasing the ice cream truck as if I was 7 again. Then later on the night, I went to a carnival, riding the ferris wheel overseeing the city and harbor. The night ended by watching neighbors light fireworks 2 houses down.
I'm looking forward to going on a Eroupe trip to Prauge, Florence, and Vien, and then finishing up my year as an exchange student in Switzerland by flying back home to fry in the Arizona sun!
Where does one begin to pick just ONE memory from summer!!!!?!?!
I think that the one thing I look forward to in the summer is fishing down in New Jersey with my lovah. The sun reflecting off the water, the salt in my hair, a peace in my soul. I long for this all year long ;)

Driving across Canada during childhood summers, from Vancouver to a tiny lake in Ontario where my grandparents lived, with my family.
It took four or five days of changing landscapes: terrifying mountain turns, endless plains, dark forests, thunderstorms that blew our tent away, all to arrive for two weeks of sun (hopefully), imaginary lake monsters, and frozen yoghurt.
In pictures from the trip my sisters and I always look blitzed in the afternoon and bleary-eyed in the mornings, and I'm always wearing a wool lumber-jack shirt inherited from my grandfather's friend. The pictures don't have that special polaroid vintage glow, but they show water lapping on rocky shores and vast prairie skies...

When I was just a little kid, my aunt and uncle owned a cabin on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. It was a legit cabin, too -- no electricity, a pump in the sink instead of a faucet, an outhouse instead of a bathroom. It was phenomenal. Every morning my sister and I would get up early when there was still a mist over the water and everything was quiet, and we'd go for our morning dip. The water would always be freezing and we wouldn't last long before coming back inside for a little pre-breakfast hot cocoa.
I haven't been there in nine years (my uncle died and the camp was sold). But the few days we spent there every summer, away from the rest of civilization and all that comes along with it, are still some of my favorite memories to look back on.
