I just wasn't made for these times...

No dudes today, but the van is still there!
Sweater: Thrift (3.99)
Dress: American Apparel outlet (40.00)
Tights: from Adria
Shoes: Minnetonka (30.00)
Bag: Dooney&Bourke via thrift (7.00)
Sunnies: Vintage (10.00?)
So, I had an entirely different outfit planned for today, but once I got it on I realized it was way too casual for work. My original plan was to wear jeans because I would be sitting in meetings all morning, but this outfit had to do. Still comfortable, but slightly more appropriate. This sweater is another item I scored last week when Chris and I went to Salvation army. I had been looking for a shawl collar pullover for so long, and this vintage piece is perfection, I really love the salt and pepper wool, and it's so soft!
I tried something new with my hair too by making a messy bun, pulling it halfway out, and then pinning it to the side of my head. I really like how it looks super complicated, but in actuality, it was kind of accidental. If anyone would like a tutorial, let me know!
No interruptions in my photo taking today, except for the intense sun! I love this spot in the parking lot behind my house. Over the years, rainfall has discolored the concrete making these really beautiful streaks and when the sun shines on the steps, it warms the spot right up!
Is everyone excited for the weekend? I can't believe that tomorrow is Friday already! I have some fun things planned, the weather will be cold but sunny- perfect for outdoor things!
I'm not sure if I will be posting tomorrow (probably yes) because my mom is picking me up and we're driving to Maine tomorrow night! Yay!
G'night!

Cute! My Minnetonka moccasins are THE reason that I wear shoes--like walking on pats of butter. Enjoy Maine and being outdoors!

Hair is super cute! I get headaches when I pin my hair up but I love how it looks on you!

Question: do you wear 2 layers of tights to keep warm? I'm in Chicago and it's hella cold with the biting wind :(.

I just stumbled onto your blog, and I love your photos! I like how casual this outfit is, but little things like the shoes give it a pop!

Plus, your hair is enviable. My hair can't stand up for the life of it. D:

Julie, you're the best. Seriously, I look forward to your posts every day, and I am NEVER disappointed. Today's post is no exception. I love the hair, the dress, the shoes. Fun and colorful and perfect!

I love when you wear that American Apparel dress because I have the same one and am constantly looking for new ways to wear it. On me, though, it's a little too short for work with just tights. I've layered it up over a short skirt and added a vest or sweater, and that's a cute option.

Thanks for the hair tutorials -- I tried the half-French-braid-half-bun combo that you did the video tutorial on awhile ago, and got a bunch of compliments, so thanks!

Christina, I do wear two pairs of tights, today I have on a grey pair under a blue pair, the extra layer really adds warmth!

I giggled a little bit when I saw that the van was still there. How odd! I think there should be some outrageous story like, maybe the van is actually the entrance to an underground tunnel (but how come you can't see it go into the ground? mirrors... duh!) and there is buried treasure... Too much imagination?

Your hair is always so unique! It's certainly become your signature. I saw a dress like this at H&M the other day and saw how they dressed it on the mannequin and it reminded me of EXACTLY how you would wear it.. it even had a faux fur leopard vest! I should have taken a picture for you! Maybe someone over there is a fan..?

Please oh please do a hair tutorial!! I've actually started to wear my hair like another style you do all the time: where you braid it on one side and than bring it to a bun on the other side. Such an easy and great style! I got a compliment it on the first day I wore it to work.
