California dreaming on a winters day

Sweater: Thrift (2.00)
Skirt: ModCloth (64.00)
Tights: TjMaxx (4.99)
Shoes: Target (6.99)
Necklace: J.Crew outlet (14.99)
Coat: Thrift (15.99)
I've been having an off week. I've been waking up late, a little grumpy, dissatisfied with my closet, and just generally off my game. Going thrift shopping with Chris yesterday really helped, I always love our Wednesday evenings together, he works pretty late throughout the week so his day off mid-week is a nice chance to catch up. We were both in a thrifting mood yesterday so we decided to head out to Salvation Army and Savers after work. Like I said in my post yesterday, I love thrifting during the week. It's almost always empty of other shoppers, the store isn't overwhelming, and you can just relax and poke around. I found some great stuff too!
This grey sweater is one of my finds, I think it's shrunken because the tag says medium and it fits like a XS or SM. The short length makes it ideal to pair with skirts like this one from ModCloth and its super good quality because it's J.Crew!
I also found the jacket I'm wearing below, I love it! I've been looking for another jacket and last night I found two! This vintage Woolrich coat is perfect, it's super warm and there are little flecks of blue and orange in the herringbone fabric. It also has tons of pockets.
I'm unconvinced about parting my hair down the middle, my bangs have finally grown out to a point to where they aren't in my eyes, but I think I need to get them blended so they're not as chunky. I haven't parted my hair like this since 10th grade!

Adorable skirt! And I love the color of the tights. Thrifting is so much better during the week. Unfortunately, most of the shops around me close at around 5 or 6 which means I am forced to shop on the weekends. :(

I used to part my hair down the middle in high school. Looking back I see now that it looked Godawful on me. Ah well, hindsight is 20/20. I am so tired of the cold. I'm ready to go out without a coat on!

I had this trick that when people asked me what I looked like when I was 17, I just parted my hair down the middle and stuck it behind my ears... My hair has been parted on the side since Senior year of high school... weirder, I've had bangs for the past 2 1/2 years... I feel weird without bangs.

I LOVE THIS OUTFIT! Suddenly I want to make a ruffly pretty skirt like that!

i like your hair parted in the middle! the waves frame your face nicely!

i love thrifting during the week too, but the thrift stores where i live are expensive, and they upcharge for "name brands" ... which is guess ok because the proceeds go to charity, but still! i'm a poor college student! i thrift for a reason! lol.

the middle part makes you look even more 60s! That skirt is so super cute. If you ever feel like getting rid of it.... ;)

I'm a fan of the part. Truth is, you have magnificent hair so it doesn't seem to matter WHAT you do with it; it rocks on its own accord. I wish I had your closet to hate on; I get tired of hating my own. Cute outfit!

Such a cute outfit! I think the skirt works really well with the sweater
ps. you look pretty awesome for someone having an off week!!

Holy smokes, that jacket is an awesome find! If you used to part your hair down the middle AND slick down your fly-aways, well, then we come from a similar tenth-grade hair nightmare that still makes it hard for me to part mine--you should go with it though!

I love the more casual look of the sweater with the skirt! I have that skirt and it's so fun! Your hair looks great, as far as I'm concerned, you're hair can do no wrong!

I've always loved that skirt ever since it first popped up on Modcloth, but I was always a little skeptical of what it would actually look like on....you've without a doubt convinced me of it's loveliness. It looks so good on you, and I like the simplicity of what you wear with it...to much more would be a bit loud. Well done.

that IS a fantastic outfit!

cute jacket, and I love the color of your tights. TJ Maxx, huh? good score! I hate feeling off....maybe it's because it's nearing the end of the season.....one thing that helps me is to make sure all my laundry is clean (it generally is) and ironed (it generally isn't).

There's nothing I hate more than waking up in the morning, opening the closet, and pulling out three different things....all of which need to be ironed. I can never save myself enough time for all that work in the a.m.

Great outfit though! Way to pull yourself out of a funk!

Ah, love the skirt! I wanted to buy it myself but my poor little college fund just can't afford anything new without a gift card! Thank God for thrifting and Wednesdays at Salvation Army! (Does yours have 1/2 off Wednesdays too?) Great coat too!
